Clay Aiken Outed

Clay Aiken Outed

Rumors that Aiken might be gay have circulated since he first appeared on "American Idol" but he has always maintained he is straight. But the American Idol star has been outed by an army ranger who claims to have been asked by Clay to be his "secret boyfriend".

Tabloid National Enquirer is carrying what it calls an exclusive interview with the man, John Paulus - a 38-year old former Army Ranger who met Aiken just before Christmas on the internet.

"On Dec. 16, using the screen name of 'valleyprettyboy,' Clay sent me his first instant message," Paulus claims in the magazine.

Paulus says the two arranged to meet at a North Carolina hotel and that he spent the night engaged in unprotected sex with the singer.

"Clay told me that he just came out of the closet to his mother and a few close friends last year... I hope he comes out of the closet because he'd be a great role model for the gay man," Paulus is quoted by the Enquirer as telling the publication.

The Enquirer claims that Paulus saved text messages the two exchanged and that he passed a lie-detector test. The magazine also says that Paulus saved a washcloth that contains Aiken's DNA - meaning a cumrag!

Please explain why this former, asshole, Army Ranger went to all the trouble to 'out' Aikens. Is this a 15 minutes of fame moment.

What gall to relate trusted moments like he described. And then to save a cumrag?

I nominate Paulis as "Turd fo the Year".

Eventually you just don't care if Clay Aiken is gay or not gay. Please let me know when that time arrives!!

Are we supposed to be shocked by this? The only non believable thing is that they met over the net, I mean comeone he's a semi famouse dude why get a booty call over the net?

Unprotected sex? Ewwww Clay, getting outed as a gay man is okay (only your Claymates believed your allegiance to pussy anyway)and will eventually pass but unprotected sex? Not only are you a liar but stupid too.

I agree, everyone knows the "unwritten code" of not to kiss and tell. Unfortunately this guy has decided to do so, I only hope that in Clays case something positive will come out of his "outing" in very much the same way George Michael managed to turn his ugly entrapment/toilet incident on its head and make the world love him for coming out? I cant say that Im a particular fan of Clays but in this instance I wish him all the very best of luck :)

I agree John. But this also so LAST YEAR! Anyone who's ever seen a Kathy Griffin show knows the jokes. Even "Gayken" plays along.

Besides ... who gives a rat's ass. He is kinda creepy to me.

Indeed very funny "Simon", nice to know youre also a fan of QC and visit here LOL!!!

PS I heard that there will also now be a stream of commenters impersonating other famous people!

Thanks god for that! Finally! Im sure he is relieved to be outed, although its not the best of circumstances its better out than in I suppose. Anyway, like a lot of comments already, anyone who is gay, already knew and it doesnt really bother them - its a sad fact though that the heterosexual world will have a field day with this!

God, that is fucked up on Paulus part... He planned this the whole time. We all know Clay is gay but, it is his right to tell anyone or no one. To tell the world about his unprotected sex is just full of malice.

First off... I think that dude makes himself look even worse by admiting to 1. unprotected sex and 2. sex with Clay Aiken. Uh- what!?

This is precisely why more gay people--right or wrong--find acknowledgement of their sexuality a struggle, if not a nightmare.

Why must anyone who happens to be someone be designated as a "role model" for everyone else who happens to have the same sexual preferences?

I do not give a damn about Mr Aiken. But even if it were Mr Pitt, Mr Bloom or Mr Gyllenhaal, the most it should result in should be [1] a smile on most of our faces, if not [2] richer masturbation material for some. Let's get real--beyond tabloid-ish titillation, it has no effect on any teen coming to terms with his sexuality, much less on anyone older and presumably more certain.

Good point Davie - personally though for me, I didnt have any positive gay role models to aspire to when I grew up. Most gay characters on tv or in the media where portrayed as awful limp wristed and effeminate, something that was seen as a joke. As a jock at 6'2" I really struggled to identify with any positive gay role models or images, I either didnt know about them or they werent openly visible. Of course I respect an individuals right to privacy, its because of hate and prejudice that many gay people have to take that choice. But I find it ironic though that "stars" who are in the public eye and have the public position and standing to give out positive gay image/identification choose not to. Whether stipulated by choice, contract or just the fact that the marketing people dont want to have "negative" publicity and lose sales I dont know? But its precisely this lack of openess that continues the circle of misunderstanding and ultimately prejudice and can lead to the eventual blackmailing to "out" someone. IF Clay had been open from day one, ie once he started to get fame from American Idol this incident wouldnt have even been newsworthy. Even though Im not a Clay fan though, I hope that he now gets some peace in his life and can openly find a partner without having to do the sleazy motel thing (particularly with dirt bags like Paulus). I hope he sues the ass of that scum bag, perhaps it will stop others from having the same idea!

I'm sorry, I just can't consider someone who would go out and get fucked bareback by a stranger a "Role Model."

Posted by: SP at February 1, 2006 12:15 PM

jesus christ what a sad commentary on our society that people actually give a shit about this...what's even sadder is that some people will truly be "shocked" and probably refuse to believe it...even though anyone who had eyes and ears could see this back when Li'l Clay was preening for his moment in the spotlight.

I pray to God that I live to see the day when "news" like this is met with a resounding "who gives a shit?" by the majority of the population-gay and straight alike!

TO JOHN: I believe I understand the points you made. Indeed, each makes sense.

To address your personal experience, let us face the fact that the classification "straight" by itself contains no sexual implications, whereas --right or wrong-- the classifications "gay" and "lesbian" do (why, even "celibate" is a trigger for sniggers).

So beyond the above and beyond homophobia, putting into the public domain any aspect of any sexuality inevitably triggers attention of all sorts--including the unwelcome and the unflattering. Try being a straight college girl or office worker who is widely-known to have a taste for, say, giving blowjobs or taking it doggie-style . . . or being a straight college jock or career professional whose image includes a preference for, say, giving cunnilingus or doing it standing up in the elevator. Let's see even the most dignified, privacy-respecting members of society ignore that--too irresistible for at least a comment, or even piercing looks of disgust as one walks by, isn't it?

So while being "out", or keeping it private, are free choices, each choice carries predetermined implications--one can choose to tell or to not tell, but one cannot dictate third-party reactions. Even in Holland where I used to work and live, being known to have a same-sex partner, or being seen with them after work elicit only casual remarks if any. But mentioning deeper sexual aspects in public, whether in the workplace or in a restaurant within earshot of the surrounding tables, will more often than not be met with disapproval--not because it is a gay thing but because it is a crude thing.

Sexuality and sex used to be private matters. Yes, we should not have to hide our sexuality for fear of losing career opportunities, or worse, a baseball bat smashed against our heads--but I have no problem with a society which disapproves of homophobia, but also believes that sex is a matter between oneself and one's partner(s). (Private clubs and annual Gay Parades being exceptions, of course. :D )

Exactly why more people don't come out of the closet.

Look what happened to Ellen.

Straight people can't wait to find out who's Gay , so they hound people to death until they come out , then they claim they are "flaunting it ". This goes for Gay people too - speculating who is and who isn't.
