QContest: Win Dylan Rosser's X-posed!

In the first picture above, photographer Dylan Rosser (right) holds his debut book, X-posed, standing next to one of his beautiful models, Rob, standing naked in the picture below with Erik.
QC was lucky enough to catch up with internationally renowned male photographer, Dylan Rosser this last week at the New York City launch party for his debut book, X-posed. Above is a pic of the photographer holding his book alongside one of his breathtaking models (shown naked below). The party was quite an international affair in the upstairs private room of The Ritz bar; lots of handsome men with accents from around the world, some shirtless waiters and guests, and drink specials to keep everyone in high spirits. We met and spoke with Dylan who was nice enough to give QC an autographed copy of his debut work.
And now, you have a chance to win Dylan Rosser's signed copy of X-posed for your very own viewing pleasure! All you have to do is familiarize yourself some of Dylan's hot, eye-popping photos via his website or via an image search and leave a compliment for him in our comments section. It needn't be a comprehensive critique or some Shakespearean declaration, just a thoughtful, sincere compliment about his work. We'll leave this post open for comments for one week (that is, the contest ends October 22nd). Then, we'll ask Dylan himself which comment speaks the most to him. Whoever's comment he chooses will win the book!
The winning comment will top an upcoming QCA review of X-posed along with an interview with the artist himself, so be sure to check back for that. It's a fun contest to support a gay artist and his models. Whether you know Rosser's work or not, going through his images is a reward in itself. We bet you'll have lots of complimentary things to say, if you can also type one-handed. Good luck, everyone!

The word "beautiful" is not generally used to describe men. I think Dylan Rosser's photography captures men in such a perfect way that there's really no other word that comes to mind. Everything, from his lighting to his backdrop, comes together harmoniously to create amazing images of the male form.
The thing that strikes me most about Rosser's photographs is that despite the photos being of an erotic nature, the focus is on the human being. Sure, there are amazing bodies, but there is a discreet emphasis placed on the face of each model. I have found it so refreshing to see that these photos allow a glimpse of personality and warmth one rarely sees in similar photographs.
The photographs are simply amazing. I have never seen anyone take photos that actually make my jaw drop.
Super sexy! :)
beautiful imagery of beautiful men what more could anyone want.
there is definately a fine line between pornography and fine art dylans knows exactly where that line is and he walks it well
The men and the photos are beautiful. It shows me that the male form is something to be proud of and makes me feel that I can be myself- not be ashamed of being gay. As someone who is on disability for depression and has self esteem issues, it also gives me something to aspire to. Not just physical beauty, but the 'inside' beauty that these pictures evoke. The sensuality and confidence that the models portray and that the photographer helps bring out. It has always been one of my fantasies to have a photographer of such talent take my photos and help me see myself in a different way. Ive wanted to get out of myself and my negative self worth and see myself in an objective manner and in a way that others do. I dont know if Ill ever have a six pack but hopefully I'll be able to have the self confidence and self awaredness (if thats a word) that the models convey in these mesmerizing photos.
The lighting and composition of Rosser's work is what you see in dreams of the perfect man. Despite his work being based on nude men, he is able to stay within the lines of being art, where most photographers would have become trashy and pornographic. Undoubtedly sexy, Refreshing, Relaxing, his work speaks the thousand words, and also exudes a thousand feelings.
To me there is nothing more beautiful or striking than the male form in still photography. I have admired your work both on your site and others for its bold composure and excellent choice of models. Of course your photos are sexy and sometimes erotic, but they are so much more than that. They are careful studies of the male form and sexuality. Keep on the great work!
Dylan, I’ve always been a fan of your photographical works. Rarely have I seen works that celebrates the beauty of the male form done so tastefully and masterfully without resorting to the erotic and trashy. But something I, as a homosexual person, really appreciate about some of your works is how empowering they make me feel, and I know it does to others out there as well. Gone maybe are the days when roman artisans sculpted statues that became timeless pieces of artworks, but hey, as far as I know, there are still Michelangelos among us, and you’re one of them.
You have captured the beauty of each of your men. There is not one picture that I wouldn't admire each and every day. You are a true artist that knows the meaning of the beauty of the male form.
Your photos are erotic yes, but not in an abrasive or cruel way. They are very sensual and you have caught the male form in a beautiful and creative way while still keeping the image enticing. I think that your lighting in your photos are smart and creates shadows that are elegant. My favorite of your images are the textures you find and display. Especially the image of the model Alex in the corner of a wood panel wall with the soft light coming from above; very beautiful and the shadows of his back and sides are so gorgeous. The smoothness of his skin and the roughness of the wall is a great dynamic.
Dylan:
What draws me most to your photos is the way you use light and camera angle to highlight each model and make each photo distinguishably unique. Whether it is the curvature of Alex's butt cheek, the muscles in Bryan's arm and Darren's neck, the 0% fat of Rusty's 8 pack abs or the glistening sweat of Zach's torso, you capture the male nude in ways many photographers miss. Your photos are not just erotic,,they're truly beautiful.
The best of Mr. Rosser's images truly are pieces of art. Whether the images or models are classical or not, something is captured in them that's greater than the particulars of the composition and the subject. It's not hard to take a beautiful picture of a beautiful man, but what sets these shots apart is the synergy brought about by the sureness of the photographer and the energy of the models.
Dylan, the hotness of your book would just disrupt my day..
I enjoy seeing what photographer's eye tells them and focuses there shot on of beauty and form, from something simply to complex it can be so stimulating in the image thats captured forever, awesome.
Finally, A great emphasis on a book as a work of art in its own right.
There is a fine line between pornography and art. Dylan Rosser manages to create art that illicit the emotions of that sometimes are associated with pornography. Something that is very difficult to do tastefully seems almost effortless to Rosser.
Dylan, Thank You. Your images are shoot from the most thoughtful eye. I think the nude male form is the most amazing thing to view. Congratulations. I look forward to viewing the full contents of you book.

Dylan's work creates a theater where the male form can be appreciate as a gestalt that is greater than the individual parts. His talent with lighting and composition present his models as just more that just good looking. HE has captured the human element that can take the image from common to truly erotic and alluring.
What could be better than photographs of beautiful naked men ... Dylan is not only talented he has the best job in the world! My question is where did he find such great models??
Dirty, clean, light, dark, Rosser's photography is captivating regardless of form. Innocently erotic.
As a photographer at the beginning of my professional career, Dylan is a huge inspiration. His minimalist composition allows the eye to focus on the beauty of the male physique.
there is nothing like tastefully done male erotica to spur on the imagination and stimulate the senses. you have done a superb job on both counts, keep up the good work and you will succeed over and over again...
My name is Ryan, a second year South African Photography student. I have been a major Dylan Rosser fan for about 2 years now. As a gay man and a photography student i respect and admire Mr Rossers work with great passion! I have found my true calling from Mr Rossers work, the way he is able to portray the rugged male species not only as a sexual object but as a creature of pure beauty and a softer side generally unseen. Each of Dylan Rossers websites have a similar yet completely unique perspective on this same theme. "The Male Form" site shows the male form in its entirty, the beauty, simplicity, power and softness. "The Xposed" site shows the male form in a more rugged and artistic quality using different lighting techniques and make up to emphasize the models masculinity. And the "Man Candy" site features men in a more sensual manner, almost teasing the senses and making u crave more! Mr Rosser has a unique and amazing eye that i can only hope to capture in my work one day. He is an awesum role model, especially knowing how far he has gone and comes from the same upbringing as me. Congrats on the launch Mr Rosser! Hope there are many more to come and i get to meet u in person one day! Much love and respect... Ryan (a.k.a Dylan Rosser fan)
If there is such a thing as heaven on earth, dylan has found it and wants all of us to be part of it.
Hello Dylan,
My name is John (Jean in french). I hope you're going to understand my poor english...
I had not heard about your work before this thread on queerclick, but, following the link to your different websites, I've been very happy to discover your photos.
Looking at them has made me think that nudity is, at the same time, the most simple and the most complex act.
Being nude in front of someone else can be so difficult (and I know it is). You can't hide yourself ! Your body is a part of your identity, and it is sometimes difficult not to try to act differently in order to give a different/better image of yourself.
Your models have in common to have beautiful bodies, but this doesn't remove their fragility. I have the feeling that it's the fragility that make your photos so expressive.
Even when the models are covered with mud (and some may think it's less beautiful), they are still beautiful : their eyes are an open window to their soul.
I don't want to be too philosophical or to begin a long discussion about your work (because i'm not able to do that), but I'd like to tell you that I haven't found a picture that hasn't created sensations or emotions. Each time, my eyes have been attracted by something different in the picture. I've liked the sensuality, the strength or the vulnerability of the models.
Your work is definitely a tribute to the beauty of male body.
Thank you for these emotions. I hope that one day, I'll improve my photographic skills to reach this level of communication between the model, the photographer and the viewer.
Cheers.
Jean
PS : thanx to QC. Without this competition, I probably wouldn't have dared to write to Dylan and congratule him. Now I'm sure he'll get my message and I'm happy for that.
It's a rare and difficult feat in male photography to achieve both simplicity and complexity in each shot but this effect comes naturally in Dylan's photography. For we can see the simplicity in the style of photography and the complexity in the emotions, attitudes and style of the models. Both of these contrasting factors make Dylan's photos stand out compared to any other photographers work. When you see a photo, you instantly associate it as Dylan's work because of his unique approach to capturing the youthful male form full of complexities but at the same time, displayed in a simple pose. For this reason you have always been my favorite photographer and I look forward to seeing your new book!
Dan
It should be silly to assume that you (Mr Rosser) don't realize how wonderful of an artist you are, but still, you have created the most salivating beauty out of your model Rob. It's certainly one thing for me to swoon on seeing a model of that calibre period, but you make turn your models (particularly Rob or Justino) look so otherworldly in their beauty that I can't help but tip my hat to you (and that's the least I could offer).
I was introduced to Dylan Rosser's site through QC (thanks QC) and was stunned by the quality of the photography. I joined his site to have access to all the galleries. Simply, Dylan's photography captures the essense of the male form in all its many moods and exposes not just the exquisite physique of the models but the inner passion. He offers man candy on which I will always want to feast! Special thanks for the many galleries of Blito!!
