Chris Porter Arrested In Gaza Protest

If you haven’t heard, Israel and Palestine are killing one another. It’s a dire situation that has compelled citizens around the world to protest.
Versatile bottom Chris Porter was one such protestor. On Friday, he and 300 people from his New York City activist collective, “Direct Action Front for Palestine,” held a protest at the Israel Discount Bank, a bank that is owned 20 percent by the State of Israel.
According to a witness named Jenna Pope, Porter and several other activists “participated in an act of civil disobedience by throwing fake blood on the windows of IDB, and then staging a sit-in on the sidewalk until they were arrested by police officers.”
Porter’s husband — versatile bottom Samuel Colt — reported on Facebook that Porter got arrested:

“Over 300 demonstrators rallied from the sidelines as they sprayed theater blood on the bank windows and themselves, and fell to the ground for a “Die-In” on the busy lunchtime sidewalk on 5th Avenue. No one was harmed and the protest ended peacefully after the activists were surrounded by 20 NYPD officers and quickly handcuffed. After refusing to move, they were dragged into police vehicles and taken to the 14th Precinct in Midtown South awaiting charges.”

Most surprising though is how Porter got involved with the protest to begin with. Apparently he’s changed a lot since the last time we saw him fuckin’ on screen…

First off, you should know that Porter’s real name is Christos Poulos, and Poulos also has a political queer pink/hip-hop alter-ego named Stose. Stose has a few albums out, has done a few shows and is very politically engaged.
Stose and his organization reportedly marched on the bank to highlight “the financial ties to the Palestinian Occupation and how the banks are directly connected the deaths of thousands of Palestinians, including many woman and children.”
According to Colt’s Facebook update: “[Stose] and his co-horts were charged with “Obstructing Governmental Administration (PL 195.05)” & “Disorderly Conduct (PL 240.20 & PL 240.06)”, second-degree misdemeanors and were released on their own recognizance at 7:43pm EST on Friday July 25, 2014.”
After being released Stose said “I’m a human being and I cannot stand-by quietly while our government and society funds the genocide of innocent civilians. It isn’t an issue of Israel versus Palestine; it simply a matter of humanity and doing what is right. I don’t support “terrorism”, but I do support humanity.”
