If you're into queer cinema, we thought you should know about Holding Trevor, which opened in theaters in New York City and Los Angeles on July 4th, but will travel independent theaters this summer. And best of all, the buzz has been good about the movie. It's a wee bit dark, but also poignant about gay relationships, and the pitfalls that surround us all. On a completely shallow level, we absolutely loved Jake the sex-addict best friend, played by the oh so pretty and talented Jay Brannan. It's the 25th year of the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco! While we know those kinky bitches the Concerned Women for America aren't going (shucks!), we're wondering if you are going? Too shy to wear a leather harness? Well, why not wear a black QC Tee Shirt (and black jockstrap)? What better place to share your love of QC? (Don't take it wrong if you get a spanking in return!) Sure there is that cafe by the same name in Paris. BUT, in my opinion, you can't possibly have a queer guide about going out without mentioning Café Flore in San Francisco. It sits in the heart of the Castro community and is a perfect spot for weekend brunch with friends (or guy watching). Better yet, its relaxed, the food is great, and they make a nice strong cup of coffee. I'll meet you there for spinach frittata, okay?

If you live near Minneapolis, you owe it to yourself to check out the Wilde Roast Cafe. This cafe that caters to the gay and lesbian community is... just downright delicious! And this isn't any ordinary "cafe," in fact, with its charming Victorian feel and atmosphere, it would be exactly something Oscar Wilde (who the cafe is named after) would have likely frequented. Comfortable. Eclectic. Scrumptious! Just ask Bon Appetit who named their flourless chocolate cake, La Bête Noire (aka the Black Beast) one of the best... anywhere. We also like they maintain a blog of local (Minneapolis) events.
