UPDATE: Lucas Vs. Corrigan - The Last Words?
Yes, they’re fighting, but which looks better in undies? Brent packs quite the pouch, ass, and muscular twink body, but Michael has got the East European top-daddy look down with his hairy chest and deliciously long dick.
A lot has happened on the Lucas vs. Corrigan front (if you missed any of the action, you can catch up at the Lucas vs. Corrigan QC News Page) and so here’s a quick update. If you remember, this entire fight started when Lucas busted onstage during the GayVN awards after a message from Joan Irvine of the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP). A short while ago, Joan Irvine issued the a statement through ASACP. XBIZ reports:

“I appreciate Michael Lucas’ concern for ASACP and the industry that he expressed during the GAYVN Awards show,” Irvine told XBIZ. “Michael demonstrated the industry’s outrage when an underage actor slips into legitimate adult movies as this threatens the industry and shows a disregard for ASACP and the industry’s child protection efforts.”

“In September 2005 when ASACP was alerted that Brent Corrigan was supposedly 17 while performing in four movies, it researched this and quickly informed the industry about the offending movies,” she said. “All titles and promotional materials were immediately removed from circulation and distribution, both online and offline.”

“This was a wakeup call back then and should be a warning to the industry about the importance of being vigilant to obtain the proper documentation for 2257 requirements and to check on questionable documents. Brent is now over 18 and has the right to engage in whatever legal business he chooses.”

The entire XBIZ story is worth a read as it provides candid reactions from both Lucas and Corrigan.
Brent Corrigan wants to end it
Brent Corrigan wants a happy ending to this tumultuous ride. Makes sense seeing as he was recently awarded Best Bottom, much to Michael Lucas’ ire.
Shortly thereafter, Unzipped Magazine did an interview with Brent Corrigan about the whole fight:

After congratulating him on his three GayVN wins, I got right down to it and asked Brent about a big rumor circulating the Internets.

I wanted to know if it was true that Michael Lucas had once wanted to cast Brent Corrigan in one of his movies. If so, it would completely undermine everything that Lucas had said and done over the weekend.

I wasn’t sure how he would answer, or if he would answer at all, but he did. And as usual, he didn’t disappoint…

Corrigan says that in 2006 he contacted Lucas (via Lucas’ MySpace account) to inquire about possibly working with him. Brent had just finished a film for Falcon and felt it was the right time to branch out and work with other leaders in the industry. An assistant wrote back, expressing the porn mogul’s interest.

“There were a few short e-mails back and forth between myself and one of Michael Lucas’ assistants,” Brent told me. “The assistant told me that Lucas didn’t write his own messages because he didn’t have a firm enough grasp of the English language, and that he had other people relay information for him. I thought this was pretty strange, you know, for one of his assistants to be telling me this, but negotiations continued.”

But Brent says when he told Lucas how much his scene rate was, things fell apart.

“I guess my scene rate was too high, and he wasn’t willing to pay. When [Lucas] realized that I wasn’t just looking to do a random scene, and that he couldn’t control me, everything was off.”

Since this incident three years ago, Brent claims to have had no communication with Lucas, until the GayVNs last weekend of course.

When I asked Brent whether or not he thinks Lucas would’ve rushed the stage and done everything he did last weekend had Brent not won any of his awards, Brent asserted, “Absolutely not! He would’ve found some other way to cause a scene.”

“Any final thoughts on the matter, or Michael Lucas in particular?” I said.

Brent took a few seconds to collect his thoughts, and then matter-of-factly replied, “Well, he got the attention that he wanted, despite not getting the awards that he wanted.”

Lucas is pissed
Oh, you haven’t heard the last of Michael Lucas, you bitches. His fiery engine is just getting warmed up. Small wonder he isn’t emphatic about another crime that could threaten the adult entertainment industry.
In response to the Corrigan interview, Queerty reported that Michael Lucas sent an e-mail to Unzipped magazine expressing his disappointment with their coverage. In response, associate editor, Ken Knox sent Lucas this response:

Hey there, Michael,

Got your messages. It makes sense that you were shocked that I would write something slanderous toward you, because obviously I wouldn’t. I would never write anything malicious or slanderous against you. That’s just not my M.O.

However, I do have to say that I don’t agree with your opinion about the industry and Brent Corrigan. I totally understand where you are coming from, and we should all fight against child porn, but Brent Corrigan is of age now, and he has a right to perform in the business, just as any other legal-age performer does.

I know the Russian justice system is a little different, but here in America, we forgive people for their mistakes. We don’t penalize shoplifters for the rest of their lives because they did something stupid. Similarly, Brent did something truly stupid, but to blacklist him from the industry or any kind of acknowledgment serves no purpose other than to validate the self-righteousness of those who condemn him.

I think it’s extremely admirable that you stand up for what you believe in, Michael. I truly do, and you know that I am a big fan. But I do wish you would pick and choose your battles more carefully. There’s a line from When Harry Met Sally where Meg Ryan says to Billy Crystal, “Harry, you’re going to have to learn that you can’t express every emotion that you have every moment that you’re having it,” and I think that’s something to keep in mind. One question I always try to ask myself before offering my opinion on something is: “How much of what I’m saying is truly helpful to the cause, and how much of it is just my own need to be heard?” That’s a question I think we could all afford to ask ourselves more often.

Anyway, I don’t want to lecture you. You will do what you do, as you always do, and I support you in that no matter what. I think yours is a very important voice in the industry. But please, try not to condemn those who do not agree with you. You may be horrified to know that we are placing Brent on the cover of our next issue of Freshmen, and we have no problem with doing that. I’ll also be reiterating my opinion about Brent working on our blog tomorrow. It doesn’t make Unzipped or myself any less responsible or noble; it just means that we are doing our job in covering the notable players in the industry. Likewise, in nominating Brent for GayVN Awards, the judges were just acknowledging good work and giving credit where credit was due. There’s no need to judge the performers. That’s not our job. Please try not to speak out against us so harshly.

By the way, you can always find out who wrote individual posts by going to the bottom of each post and seeing who posted it. That way you can afford any future embarrassment that might come with speaking out of turn against writers. 🙂

Respectfully and warmly as always,

Ken Knox

To which Lucas responded:

“Ok great, so let’s accept him and then we’ll accept the next kid who does it then the next kid until we all end up with child pornography all over our computers. Because this should be the accepted protocal of our industry to forget it once they are of age??? I am disappointed with your morality on this. But we all have our standard of practices. Also, what does any of this have to do with the Russian system? I am an American so no need to lecture me about what WE in America do. Let’s respect this.”

Looks like Lucas took Ken’s message to heart. Child porn, anyone? (Brent Corrigan’s QC Fan Page here).
Jason Ridge
Meanwhile another porn notable jumped on the “Brent Corrigan is a child porn whore” bandwagon, porn star and Harlow Cuadra supporter Jason Ridge. In a post on his blog he wrote:

“Anyone who supports Brent Corrigan is no longer a friend of mine and the award shows who are promoting such hate and lack of respect should be ashamed of themselves.”

He apparently pissed off some fans because he later removed the post and replaced it with some quasi-spiritual mumbo jumbo entitled “Beyond Blame”. We’ve spared you the trouble of reading through the vague apologia to bring you these telling bits:

“I don’t mind people ranting and raving but when people send you death threats and scathing comments over your beliefs about current events I need to take a step back and ask is it worth it. My life and quality of it is not worth the side show antics. I know who I am and I won’t be defined by horrific people. I’m not mean nor am I violent and I want to continue with my endeavours in the Adult film Industry… at the time I write certain entries I get human emotions just like the next person and they run through me all the way to the keyboard. I’ve made my point(s) very clear and where I stand on certain issues. I will not allow my name and hard work to be dragged through the mud for someone to take advantage of the situation and allow hate and cruelty to seep its way through just to get a rise out of me. I love this industry and though it can bring some bad people along I truly believe it had made me a better person. I take full responsiblity for what I’ve said and for my actions. I hold on to my beliefs and will continue to do so.”

Ridge goes on to thank people for being so supportive and wonderful and blah, blah, blah… While most of the furor from this has died down with most people thanking Lucas for raising awareness about a serious issue and recognizing Corrigan’s repeated acknowledgment and apology for underage porn acting, we’re wondering about an interesting caveat. Many porn models also moonlight as escorts, or as they’re more bluntly known, hookers. Last time we checked prostitution by any name was illegal, yet some of the men in the Lucas Entertainment (and other studio’s) stables still accepted payment for their, ahem, company. If you arrested every prostitute in the industry, you’d eliminate a great deal of the performers out there. So while Lucas seems concerned about some of the illegal activities threatening the porn industry, he certainly isn’t concerned about others considered more socially acceptable.
