QC Open Forum: Do You Believe That JJ And Clint From The Bachelorette Are Really In Love?

Audiences of The Bachelorette got surprised when producers of the show hinted a gay storyline between two of the contestants. Hunky blond Clint Arlis, a 27 year old from Batavia, Illinois seemed to have confessed his love for Colorado native and 32 year old J.J. Lane. And feelings appear to be mutual, what it looked like a bromance from the outside is indeed two men falling in love with each other in front of the cameras, with the poor bachelorette in the middle, mind you.

Let’s get this out of the way, ABC is totally milking this stunt to bolster the ratings of the reality show but should we let the cynics win? Several sites are proclaiming that neither of the men are gay and they are “only doing it for the cameras” with carefully edited sound quotes like “(they) got very close in the shower” to entice gay audiences. Just another case of queerbaiting. But on the other hand both are moving the needle of our gaydar and JJ posted a photo of him with the caption “Aspen just isn’t the same without Clint”. So what if it’s all a producer-edited fantasy on the show, does it make it any less enjoyable?

Of course the skeptic in us is rolling the eyes to the potential fakeness of it all but our hopelessly romantic side really want that the former investment banker and the architectural engineer (and former college wrestler) to end up together, driving into a sunset if possible. And while we’re at it we want these rich, cocky and a bit narcissistic pair to fuck each other senseless, made a sextape and send it to us. We ask you QC reader, which one is your favourite?
