QC Open Forum: Chi Chi La Rue’s Opens A GoFundMe Rehab Fund

One of the most recognizable names in the porn industry is trying to reach a goal in sobriety. We randomly discovered this GoFundme page and at first we had our doubts, the recent fiasco of Brandon from SC and his GoFundMe page was still fresh in our memories, so we decided to be careful with this one. But upon further investigation her Twitter account seems to confirm that the page is real. Chi Chi has retweeted several messages from porn stars and fans showing support and encouraging their followers to collaborate in the campaign.

The gay porn director, dj and diva has been active in the industry since the 90s and she has discovered several porn stars along the way. With multiple awards under her belt and even a store with her name is sad the hear that she has been struggling with addiction “for years” what makes us happy is to learn the news about her decision to take the bull by the horns and get help.

We ask you QC reader, do you think crowdfunding a rehab treatment is the way to go to tackle this problem specially when it comes to a known personality of the gay industry? Share your thoughts and join the conversation in the comments!

Dear Friends,

Some of you know him as Larry, most of you know him as Chi Chi LaRue, but we all know him as a cherished friend, talented director, outrageous drag queen, recording artist, circuit DJ, and international gay icon. For years Chi Chi has been a force to be reckoned with, bringing joy, laughter, color, excitement, and a little drama into our lives. Chi Chi has done his best to be supportive of family, friends, and colleagues; if anyone ever asked for help Chi Chi was there. Today our friend needs help.

After years of struggling with addiction, Chi Chi recently found himself in crisis. With the help of concerned family and friends, Chi Chi realized that his life was in danger and willingly admitted himself into drug and alcohol rehab in Minnesota.

We are happy to report that in the first 20 days, Chi Chi has fully embraced the program and is taking all of the necessary steps towards living a full sober life. Unfortunately, his family has been informed that after the first month, insurance will no longer cover any of the costs or expenses related to treatment. Without our help, Chi Chi will be forced to leave the facility in 7 days.

Even with all of the progress he has made, Chi Chi is still at the beginning of this journey and requires an additional 60 days in the program to get to the heart of the issue and increase his chances for success. We believe that his life depends on it.

Approximately $40,000 is needed to cover the expenses related to completing his treatment. Our goal is to raise enough to cover these expenses. Chi Chi has asked that any additional money raised be used to start a program/foundation that will help to fund treatment for others in need.

Througout the years, Chi Chi has provided support and guidance to others around the world and we believe he has much more to give. Please help us to support not only Chi Chi, but others in need of rehabilitation.
