A year ago we learned about a cute skier that rescued a group of stray puppies during the Sochi Olympics and he won more than a silver medal there, he automatically won our hearts. And this week he also made the news but for a different reason, he made public his sexual orientation revealing that he’s gay, we’re talking about none other than Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy!

“I didn’t want to come out as the silver medalist from Sochi. I wanted to come out as the best freeskier in the world.” Gus Kenworthy.

As animal and dog lovers ourselves that first anecdote alone earned him lots of points with us, of course his Robb Stark-like smile, perfect blue eyes and love for the movie Mean Girls are a huge pluses but if you have been following his social media presences you know he seems like a genuine good guy. As many gay athletes before him this 24-year-old Colorado native struggled with the idea of coming out because he experienced homophobia in the sport first hand something he wants to change.

“I don’t want to make skiing less cool. I hear the snowboarders call us ’skier fags,’ And it’s frustrating because I’m literally going to live up to that stereotype, I want to be the guy who comes out, wins shit and is like, ’I’m taking names.’” Gus Kenworthy.
