“Where’s the (American) Beef?”

In case you haven’t noticed, in a head-to-head, with their European counterparts the major American studios are coming up short when it comes to recruiting new talent and grooming the potential superstars of tomorrow. Even the combined resources of all the major American studios have been unable to match the number of exceptional new talent introduced by William Higgins and English Lads. Put another way, if this were Fantasy Football using new gay porn recruits, we would be in for a world of hurt without any comparable talent to match up against the stable of uncut studs who have debuted this year.

It was a most difficult but enjoyable task to choose the Top 10 debut models for the European Team. I chose five from Englishlads.com and five from William Higgins. In order of appearance below are Tom Lawson, Hudson Scott, Frankie Foster, and Matteo Romano from English Lads, followed by Tomas Salek, Ondra Taryk, Alan Pekny, Leo Lombar, Oleg Hubert and Oto Useda from Wiliam Higgins.

The roster of new recruits for the American Team, while impressive, fails to stack up pound-per-pound against the bevy of beefy goodness on offer by the competition. In my mind, the most logical place to find the hottest All-American hunks was to begin with the studio that brought us Golden Boys Nixon, Deacon and Shaw. Surprisingly, I was unable to find any exceptional new talent on their same level who debuted this past year. Keeping in mind the caliber of guys from the European roster above, I combed through the past 12 months and could only reluctantly offer up Jax and Josh as the newest representatives of the “All-American cornfed beef” the studio is known for. But honestly, these two newbies are nowhere near the level of Nixon or Deacon, and frankly, do not stand a chance in a head-to-head with any of the guys from the European team’s top ten. For the sake of having a starting point, I put them in as placeholders on my list.

Over at Men.com, the focus seems to be working with existing talents to star in costly and elaborate productions rather than on recruiting. Perhaps this decision has to do with relying on subsidiary Sean Cody as its feeder studio. Former Sean Cody favorites like Brandon Cody can extend their careers by transitioning to Men.com. The studio’s Exclusive Model contract is probably the other reason why we see the biggest stars in so many productions, as they are contractually guaranteed work in exchange for the exclusivity agreement.

The “Sacred Band of Thebes” is the title of Men.com’s newest big-budget production. It is a “sword-and-sandal” themed series with an all-star cast and is beautifully shot with great production values. It is a starring vehicle for the hunky William Seed who bottoms for J.J Knight in a scene that is sure to please fans.

William also happens to be the only megastar to have debuted in 2018 that I would put on the American team with confidence. In the interest of full disclosure, however, I must point out that William happens to be a French-Canadian import. Is it so hard to find new talent in our own backyard that we have to look to neighboring Canada to sign one singular hot guy?

On the subject of imported talent, signing handsome Russian muscleman Brock Magnus to their exclusive roster was a huge win for Lucas Entertainment in 2018. Brock just oozes sweat and masculinity and comes pre-packaged with the face, body, and cock of a Superstar. He has only appeared in a few scenes but he shines in each as a versatile, cock-sucking, ass-eating, engaging and energetic performer.

Most of the heavy lifting for the American team is being done by Gay Hoopla, where I was able to find two strong candidates whose looks alone would hold up on the international stage. This young studio, whether by design or necessity, eschewed costly production values and instead put their resources into recruiting talent. This turned out to be the right business move for them. Very early on, the discovery of impossibly gorgeous guys like Chris Kohler, Jeff Niels, Collin Simpson, Sean Costin, Derek Jones, Max Summerfield, Taylor Shift, and Andy Sheckler helped put them on the map as the de-facto source for the hottest All-American jocks and bodybuilders.

One might describe them as “Fratmen 2.0” since there were some alumni who came over from the defunct Fratmen and Fratpad, but this time around, the guys actually suck dick for longer than 10 seconds and are expected to fuck and get fucked quite rigorously. Of the many hunky guys they introduced this year, I picked Peter Grom and Dane Dublin as the best representation of the wholesome muscle jock the site is known for.

Corbin Fisher has basically gone the way of the French during wartime, throwing their hands high in the air as each week they continue to post old videos of Dawson, Connor or Kellan. Their only bankable talent these days is Beau, who is single-handedly keeping the studio afloat by appearing in at least one release every other week. Of they guys featured in the past 12 months, only one model named Myles caught my eye for his muscular build, stunning blue eyes, handsome face, and decent cock. Sadly, he has only done one solo in a poorly produced video that failed to feature his best assets. What a regrettable missed opportunity and waste of talent on the part of the studio.

I had to look to the smaller studios for additional talent to round out my list and my efforts were rewarded with military hunk Curtis from Spunk Worthy and alternative hairy jock Bruce from The Guy Site. Curtis, who teaches cross-fit is in impeccable shape and tested his limits by returning for an oral service scene and a message with release scene. Admittedly, both scenes suffered from the ho-hum factor, but it gave audiences two additional opportunities to see the square-jawed hottie and his ripped naked body.

Bruce had an unremarkable debut on The Guy Site early in 2017, and his star potential was not fully revealed until he returned for a second shoot set outdoors this year. In between shoots, he had put on additional muscle, interesting facial hair and enough body hair as to make me bend the rules and add him to the list of 2018 new talent. I’m really hoping that the positive feedback will encourage the studio will do whatever it takes to bring him back for more.

I want to avoid any appearance of scraping the bottom of the barrel in order to complete my list, but I could only come up with 9 names with the potential to stand up against the European Hunks. This exercise is not meant in any way to disparage any models who did not make it on my list. My observations are more of a “call to arms” to the studios to invest more effort in recruiting and retaining top talent. And to any aspiring models who are reading this and has what it takes to become a porn superstar, I say it is your civic duty and a matter of national pride to get off the fence and join the American Team in 2019! We will thank you for your service!
