Aside from the bashing act against Aviance, what really disturbs and angers me is that, according to this report and 2 others I've read (365gay.com and outinamerica.com), witnesses (or "passers-by) saw the attack AND DID NOTHING but ignore it. If this is the norm in a "gay neighborhood" what the hell does that say about us as "a community"? We can't even try to help one of our own under attack?? Disgusting.

We all should be very angry about this attack. I hope the guys who did it rot in jail.
When my friend and I were gay bashed there were tons of bystanders who didn't do a thing. They either think it's not their problem to get involved in or, more likely, they think what is happening is okay. There were reports of cops down by the piers on the West Side Highway in NYC fucking cheering when guys attacked and murdered a transsexual woman.
I long for the day when I am given a baseball bat and 10 minutes alone in a room with one of these spineless, closeted, hate mongering people.
I'm not saying what they did was right at all, and I'm not trying to justify it. I'm a gay teenager, and I'm nothing if not open-minded.
