ive been told that playgirl announced that it will cease publication of its print mailed magazine and will turn into just a digital magazine from now on due to lower sales and rising paper costs and postage

Matt, Playgirl magazine is not ceasing publication, but they are cutting back to bimonthly issues. Instead of monthly issues they have begun to do issues every other month. I have been a subscriber for a number of years. They did a January/February issue earlier in the year. Then they did some more monthly issues. The most recent issue was for July/August. Because of the reduction in issues, Playgirl has extended the subscriptions of all of its subscribers to ensure that they receive the number of issues they paid for. At some point they may stop publishing the magazine, but currently the plan is to cut back and to compensate their customers with extended subscriptions. If they intended to cease publication, they would have refunded their customers for the rest of their subscriptions.
The publishers of Men and Freshmen magazines, however, have ceased the publication of one of their other magazines. [2] magazine's final issue was March/April of this year. The publishers of [2] transferred the remainder of any subscriptions to [2] over to one of their remaining publications - Men, Freshmen, or Unzipped. When I tried to renew my subscription to [2] over the 800 number, the customer service representative told me that the magazine had ceased publication. Since my subscription to [2] expired with the March/April issue, I had already received all of the issues for which I had already paid. Therefore the company did not extend any of my other subscriptions.

While wishing nothing bad against Mr. Atlas personally, I gotta say that I have yet to be impressed with any of the offerings from Playgirl. If the editors are indeed showing what women really find attractive in men, then I consider myself ever more glad to be a gay man who has loads of other gay men out there who KNOW what I/we like. ;)
