Ricky Martin decided to do it Michael Jackson's way.
Yes! The singer of "Living la Vida Loca" gave birth to two beautiful twin sons. The children, delivered via gestational surrogacy, are healthy and already under Ricky's full-time care. According to his PR, "Ricky is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children."
We are sure that many of you will start to fight for the position of "step daddy".

kudos to Ricky...but what is so unfortunate about this and the Clay Aiken "daddy story" is that, while most of America seems to know that these guys are gay, they are unwilling or unable to acknowledge it publically.
At a time when an "out" lesbian like Ellen has a smash TV talk show and an "out" actor is on "Gray's Anatomy" with no great fanfare, what are these guys so afraid of? It's a shame that such a joyous event is tinged with a level of secrecy...which implies shame...which does NONE of us any good in the fight for equality.
Ricky Martin is such an amazing and talented human being. He is a great role model not only for Latinos and Hispanics but for everyone else too. I wish him the best of luck raising his two children and best of wishes on his career as well.

I met Ricky through a mutual friend a few months back. Ricky is indeed gay and already has a steady lover, who is as charming as Ricky is. So, forget about being "step daddy" but I'd like to be first in line to be called "Uncle"! :)
Congrats to you Ricky!!! I know you will make a great father!!! As for those who say he should just openly come out and say it, that is your point of view. To others their personal lives is nobodys business. Would another man go in public and announce he is straight? Nope, so why does he? Yes, everyone kinda know, but it is his personal life, and if he wished to disclose the details of his person life then we welcome it. However, if he choses not to, we should respect his decision because it really isnt anyone's business. There are other important issues in the gay community that should be discussed, discussing others orientation isnt that important!

Those who choose to live their lives in the public eye have a responsibility to the public that has given them fame and fortune. Ricky Martin is no exception. If Ricky wanted to stay in the closet then he should never have entered show business. Think about the effect that Ricky's coming out, and the acceptance of his homosexuality by 'his' public would have on young men and women who are struggling with coming out. Every time another celeb, whether it be man or woman, comes out of the closet it makes it easier for everyone else.

Now that's one thing even Michael Jackson couldn't pull off. (Arnold Schwarzenegger years ago and a female-to-male transexual are the only ones known to have managed the feat.)
2 It is not that RICKY MARTIN 'needs to publicly acknowledge his sexuality'; it is that WE need to accept that it is irrelevant to his profession and to us.
If your self-esteem is the kind which you believe is going to be reinforced by having a famous and gorgeous artist announcing that he shares your sexuality, then you have bigger self-esteem issues than anyone without a medical degree can help resolve.
