QCA Film: Another Gay Sequel

I'm getting thirsty for some 7-Up!
Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild is the, um, sequel to Another Gay Movie, a trashy-camp homosexual homage to the teenage sex comedy. This time, the four boys (new actors play three of the previous film’s characters) compete in the titular Ft. Lauderdale game to collect “fuck-stamps” on a headboard-shaped card each time they get “butt love.” On the road to victory, they must contend with kitten-sized crab lice, a hoard of fisting zombies, Perez Hilton playing a religious fanatic, and the evil frat boys called the Jaspers (modeled after the Heathers).
But this time around, love proves to be the biggest conflict of all as the boys struggle to rectify just how casual sex fits into their lives. Andy (Jake Mosser) falls for a hot Latino guy who doesn’t want to rush things sexually. Jared (Jimmy Clabots) and Griff (Aaron Michael Davis) are still a couple after hooking up last time, but aren’t sure they are ready to open their relationship up enough to enter the contest. And Nico (Jonah Blechman) finds a cursed tiki necklace that repels all the boys, making him question why no one likes him. The film also features pornstars Brent Corrigan (pictured above as Merman and in a green 7-Up swimsuit) and Colton Ford.
The film has done the gay festival circuit, appearing in Outfest 2008, Cinema Diverse, and the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival and has snagged the Logo TV 2008 New Now Next Award for Best Future Feature. It has also been criticized by the film trade journal Hollywood Reporter as a low-budget “gaysploitation” films, evidence of gay media’s infancy which willingly latches onto stereotypical camp and old formulas instead of creating original classics. Others have hailed it as a very funny comedy that explodes those stereotypes and seeks nothing more than laughter.
You can decide for yourself. But no matter which camp you’re in, there’s certainly enough comedy and eye-candy to sweeten even the most bitter viewer. The film opens August 29th in New York at Quad Cinema, in Los Angeles at Laemmle Sunset 5, and (of course) in Ft. Lauderdale at Gateway Cinemas.
