Queerying: Kurt Wild 1
We’ve been huge fans of Kurt Wild since he first appeared in a Corbin Fisher solo vid. Since then, he’s arguably become the most ambitious young man in gay pornography today: he’s worked for Chaos Men, College Dudes 24/7, Jake Cruise, Men Machine, and recently transitioned to directing for Angel Slut Garden. He’s not only a chiseled and sensuous young performer with a beercan cock and awesome bottoming talents, but also devoted to his ever-expanding fan base and to his family. Yes, Kurt’s a married family man with a wife and kids. Though some porn fans hate gay-for-pay actors, Kurt’s publicly spoken in support of gays and has faced discrimination for his doing gay porn. We spoke with Kurt about balancing work and family, his best on-screen fuck, his recent appearance on The Tyra Banks Show, and topping Jake Cruise.
QC: Marriages can be tough enough without an unorthodox job and extra-marital gay sex. How do you balance your work with your wife?
KW: I’m only working about 8 days a month, I’m around to help raise the kids. She supports me like my mom; she does too. But definitely the martial sex between us is totally different [from porno sex]. For one, you’re not focused on work—the angles and the lighting. It’s sensual versus erotic, sexual, lustful stuff. Surprisingly [when she found out I did gay porn], we didn’t really fight about it… When I go on trips [for porn shoots] we don’t really talk about it a whole lot. I just used to do trips and come back… at that point she knew I was doing porn, but she didn’t know I was doing gay porn. And when I finally told her… it got a different reaction. She didn’t cry about it or anything. She finally just said whatever, my doing gay porn was actually better than my having sex with women. She knows I don’t get personal gain having sex with other guys. I used to do bi and straight scenes, but I don’t anymore. She gets along with the whole gay issue but if I brought women into it, she’d probably feel awkward and insecure about it too. For me, if she was having sex with girls, that’d be one thing… but if it was guys. When I go on a shoot, I usually let her know who I’m working with, where I’m going to be, numbers to call. Mostly for her peace of mind… as long as she knows where I’m at, she’ll feel a little bit safer. There’s respect and everything.
QC: Though you’re married and refuse to label yourself as gay or bi, what do you think about your on-screen sexual chemistry with other men? Is it just natural male intimacy taken to a physical level or do you find the chemistry between you and other guys markedly different from your chemistry with a woman?
KW: With another guy it’s… y’know, everyone has their own opinions on who’s good looking and who has good qualites about them versus somebody who doesn’t take care of themseslves and has a crappy personality. Typically for me, “chemistry” means a good personality, a good open-mindedness. They don’t have to be the best looking guy. Sex is sex. I’ve actually watched porn where girls aren’t that good looking but the porn turns me on. Its just aura chemistry vs. physical chemistry. If I can relate to (my scene partner) in more ways than one, then I’m usually going to have a good scene with them. I’ve worked with a lot of cocky assholes (laughs). Companies look at pictures of me and other men and think “You’ve got chemistry,” but they don’t even know what chemistry is. They think they know, but they don’t.
Cory's among the best Kurt's ever had
Some of my best on-screen chemistry was actually with one of the guys who wasn’t necessarily the best looking: Cory Flynt. He did really, really well with the scene; like awesomely well and I didn’t expect it. But once he… he was so open-minded that we both just opened up and did it. He just didn’t choose to go with the preppy look like most of the guys that I work with with. If you compare him with a lot of preppy guys out there that I’ve worked with, in my opinion he didn’t have the “chemistry look,” he had the chemistry. He had never done (porn) before. College Guys 24/7 was his first scene, I think, and I dunno he just seemed … he didn’t seem like he got into porn as much as he did into writing music. I guess it was just something in the back of his mind that he waned to do. And I actually enjoyed the scene because I didn’t expect to get as much out of him as I did, being a new guy and not having the typical look. It may sound mean but it’s not…. normally everytime I work with guys on, it looks like they have this clean cut look, their hair is preppy looking, their clothes are preppy looking… and this guy proved them wrong. He proved that you don’t have to look preppy, dress a certain way and look a certain way to have the best performance inside you and bring it out.
QC: Do you ever eroticize guys outside of acting?
KW: It’s just kinda a part of being porn-fry, you’re so used to being open-minded and sexual on camera that you find yourself doing it off-camera. But you control it so that you’re a respectful guy and not a horn dog. On occasion I’ll see a pretty girl and think “Oh wow, that’d be great.” Or I’ll be watching a porn and thinking about ‘Oh I’d like to do that.’ A female fan sent me a letter telling me a scene she’d like to see and I was thinking about how it’d look on film. Most of the time when I’m watching adult film, I get into it. I actually really get into it. I look at it and think “Wow that’s really good. How would I shoot that?”
QC: I read in a September 2008 justusboys interview that you’re working on constructing the perfect porn fantasy and becoming multi-orgasmic. What is the perfect fantasy and how does one work on becoming multi-orgasmic?
KW: At this point, I’d rather (my fantasy) didn’t get posted because I don’t want people to steal it. But it has a forest type background like you’d see in San Francisco—the California woodlands; a mystical tree covered with white moths that make it look white—I’d like to get that sort of mystical look with an HD camera and shoot the actual fucking near a green screen. I’d want it to look like a high budget movie that’s not high budget.
I’d go where there’s a waterfall and a little bridge where the scene takes place. I’d want to catch all the mist from the waterfall on their bodies, the beads of water collecting on their bodies and rolling down, rolling down their faces while kissing, licking all the way down to get oral. It’s just a really kinky fantasy, like, literally a fantasy. I don’t mean a fantasy like “it’s my fantasy to get fucked by women today,” and not “fantasy” as in unicorns… it’d be hard to get unicorns as a background.
(As for becoming multi-orgasmic), sometimes I won’t let my cock go down at all. After I have an orgasm, I’ll work myself up to an orgasm right after. You’re already there, just think of another thing hot right after. If I just change position enough, I can help myself for the second (orgasm) by fingering myself: it’s all in the prostate. A lot of people cum and they take an hour or two to cum again. But me, it’ll take two minutes. I’m good at cumming on cue. I think a person learns how to get edged in their video without cumming… if you’ve edged for that long and have been turned on for that long, then it’s a lot easier to be turned on again. Watch a porn, try to go for a second one right away, as soon as you’ve cum; I’ve had it before where I immediately go again, just back-to-back.
QC: What’s something you think a lot of people don’t know about porno movies or doing porn?
KW: That’s an answer a lot of us don’t want to answer because it makes us sound really fake. The people who walk out their back doors and film everyday, like ourselves and Brent Corrigan… well there’s a lot of people out there who actually give a shit about the work. Then there’s a lot of people, they just basically put their ass on the set, spread their legs, put some makeup on and they make the sounds and it’s boring to them. And I’ve never understood how that goes, where possibly your favorite porn star is just a really pretty person who decided to fake enjoying all the sex. Yeah, they’re getting penetrated, but they’re still faking it, and I’ve never really understood that. I don’t want you to think that all porn’s fake because that’s not true. I may add a little bit into (my scenes) but that’s because I’m in to it. There’s not fake moans and groans because what would be the point of that?
Also I never knew how (porn) actually came together. I always thought it was shot straight through like everyone else does. You have to sit, take breaks, it takes 3 hours to film 15 or 20 minutes, because the directors and producers want a lot more to choose from when they put it all togeher. Now I always want to see what they throw out. And all that extra stuff you do on set that you thought was going in the film and it wasn’t.
There’s a rumor going around that 70% of gay porn actors have HIV… and if that’s true, then the straight porn world’s gotta be a lot worse. I hear a lot of people test for the actual virus rather than the antibodies that appear before. Back in the 90’s all these straight porn companies thought they tested so well and then a lot of people caught it. There was this outbreak because who knows what they were doing between shoots. Everybody needs to fous on safety first and everyone needs to get tested over and over again like I do. It’s just a fear factor; we all work together and if one of us gets it, then a lot of us will have it too.

QC: What was the end result of you getting fired from Subway for doing gay porn? Did you ever get a more complete answer or explanation? Have you found another day job?
KW: I made phone calls to the Missouri Labor Commission, the people really in charge of handling discrimination cases. And she said I didn’t have a case because I did gay porn. They don’t have a discrimination law for gay rights in Missouri. If I had been in California, I wouldn’t have gotten fired. But I don’t have a case because Missouri doesn’t stand behind gay people if you’re fired because you’re gay or because people think you’re gay. I asked, “Well, when will you have a law like that?” And she said, “I dunno.” “Will I have a case when you do?” I asked. She said, “Yeah we’ll probably have a million cases when we do.” But it doesn’t matter. Why should I waste my time when I can just go and fuck and just make more money all at once?
QC: You had a scene with Nikolay Petrov who has since been indicted for assault and is going to prison. What do you think of that, especially in the light of the recent Harlow Cuadra verdict?
KW: Oh my god, oh my god… I can’t comment on the Cuadra thing. I guess if I did some people would be coming afer me. I actually know stuff about that. Yes, (Petrov) was a Fab Scout model and he was my first DVD scene for Jet Set and, um, he just seemed like a normal guy. Strong silent type, but he seemed like a really nice guy. During the scene, he had this issue with any guy touching him—”Don’t touch me, don’t kiss me” sort of thing—which was normal because he was a straight guy. But afterwards I did notice one thing in particular about him that gave me a cue that he was aware of violence, that he had been around it. We went to this club after shooting one day. I don’t know why, but he always stayed right beside me and I felt like I had a bodyguard. And he’d smile and he’d talk to me, but I was the only person he’d talk to. If a person came up to start touching me or treating me weird, he’d stand up and stare them down, and they’d usually pee their pants and walk away. He had this aura of “I’m a badass and leave me alone.” He was more protective than other people, but I never actually thought he’d be a hitman. It’s sad news because it’s not the Nikolay I knew, but I guess I didn’t know him. But what I did know? I guess I can’t complain… I actually fell a little safer around him and that was a good thing.
(Bryan Kocis’ murder) was an act of desperation in my view. It was all about work and future money, future profit. And I don’t think any of it would have happened if people would have been more like you are now. A simple e-mail, a simple phone call, and not stalking someone until the point that someone gets killed. I heard there’s more people involved, there were more people fantasizing about Brent Corrigan as well… I was riding arond in a car and Brent told me… I’ve heard so much more… but I guess it’s still … I still think there’s a third guy involved.

Kurt’s first stab at a vlog comes across very nervously. Poor guy didn’t have a script or anything, he just winged it. However we hope he’ll keep doing them; he’ll get more comfortable with each one. In this vlog, he announced his involvement with Angel Slut Garden and his new blog.
QC: How do you see your new blog fitting into to your porn career aspirations?
KW: It’s basically just something my fans asked me to create… I’m tying it together with my Yahoo fan group and when ever I have new solos and previews, I can embed the movie into my blog instead of them having to download it.
QC: In a November 2008 interview with Gay Agenda you said, “My kids keep me grounded. My kids heal me. I don’t drink, and I don’t do drugs, so when I’m not at work, I am totally dedicated to my kids.” It also mentioned that you make nature films with them. Can you tell us a little more about your relationship with your children? Do they know you’re a porn actor? What if they saw one of your films? Do you think their sex education will change in light of your work?
KW: We do live traps and catch raccoons and possums and rabbits and stuff just to take pictures and sell them. We go fishing all the time. (laughs) I’m pretty sure I have worms in my fridge right now. They like to play a lot. We run around and play hide-and-go seek; basically what other people do. And I like the fact that I work in the adult film industry; it goes for anyone who’s self-employed and gets to spend all their spare time with their kids. Is it worth a couple hundred dollars not to see your kids every week? When I work, I get to travel and see things. When I come home, I feel like I’ve closed the door behind me and locked it. I think “I’m free. I’m warm at home safe with my kids, I don’t have to look over my shoulder all the time… I’m warm at home with my kids.” I don’t bring my porn home with me; though I kind of have to because of interviews and phone calls, but I keep it apart from them.
I don’t want my kids to go into porn—I’m already doing it, so what’s the point? It’s not something a father likes to think about. I know it’s just sex and stuff, but it’s not something you want to see your daughter doing. They can be good famous models or do anything they want to do as long as they don’t do porn, which is toatlly hypocritical. I trust myself in the industry, but I don’t trust other people, especially if it’s my own flesh and blood. There’s a lot of dangers out there, it is a dirty business and not everyone can handle it mentally and physically: people getting killed, going nuts, getting checked into rehab, getting HIV or on drugs. There’s a lot of positives: fan-based entertainment, possibly puting spice back into people’s relationships, the money, the traveling; there’s a lot of good stuff too.
QC: How was the Tyra Gay-For-Pay show for you? You seemed a little nervous which struck us as odd considering how at ease you seem in porn. How did it feel to be on the show considering the topic? Did you have any moments of pride, regret, or things you wished you’d said?
KW: I really would have liked her to ask me more general questions instead of specifics like if I like to fuck or get fucked. She could have asked me questions about like how I’m not a freak. She just treated it as if I was lying, as if I was gay and I was just pretending not to be. That was the finger she was pointing at me, “How can you pretend to be straight?” I answered with the best I could come up with. I worried that I’d end up sounding vulgar. For instance, she was asking me about my hard-on and how I keep it hard and I was thinking “By thinking of wet pussy. I like wet pussy, perky tits…” Oh my God, now I have to watch porn… just kidding. Too bad she didn’t post some kind of big major warning (at the beginning of the show) that any second Kurt’s gonna freak out, “You know what I like? Fucking pussy.” I didn’t do that. I would have felt better if I did. She really tried to make it look like I was a liar instead of someone who knew what he was talking about. As far as the guy protesting what we were doing, the guy working for Advocate magazine, he tried to say I don’t have to deal with any ridicule because I get to be straight before I come in and then come out straight, that I never have to deal with any of the issues that gay men have to deal with. That’s not true obviously: I got fired from my job because of that. I like doing my own interviews better (laugh). That’s just my opinion… as much as I do love Tyra, I don’t like her show just as much as I should.
QC: You recently topped Jake Cruise. Some of our readers dislike the older gentlemen because of jealousy and because he doesn’t fit the chiseled daddy type. What did you think of the experience? How was it different from other scenes you’ve done (apart from you topping)?
KW: I think he’s an all out nice guy. He tries to be honest and straightforward. This is just based on my experience: he was straightforward. He came forward with you and shows you the papers for his STD tests and stuff. As far as the scene goes, he wants to be the older guy in the gay industry who gets to fufill his own fantasies and other older gay guys’ fantasies too. Because it’s one-on-one, they pay more attention to the model instead. (As for topping), there’s no hard science. At first it was ten times harder to bottom. But the past couple of scenes I’ve done have been topping. With Jake Cruise though I flip-flopped, actually. He’s a nice guy, my take on the scene was he knows what he wants to see. He’s got good vision. I guess he does straight stuff too, that’s what I was told. He does bi scenes and stuff like that. But if he threw in a couple of girls in there, my face would be red from carpet burn, rug burn… whatever you call it. (pause) There’s a lot of things that make me not want to do straight porn or bi scenes.
QC: OK, lightning round. Favorite ice cream?
KW: Cookies and cream.
QC: Favorite hobby?
KW: Fishing.
QC: Preferred underwear?
KW: Briefs, Ginch-gonch type underwear. Though I’ll want to wear them on a shoot and they won’t let me. And I’m like, I spend $40 on them and can’t even wear them when it really counts.
QC: Favorite guilty pleasure?
KW: Anal intercourse; even my own finger makes me cum five times in a row.
QC: Any work-out or health secrets?
KW: I drink V8 juice, orange juice, and cranberry juice. Those are the only 3 I take. I take vitamins. I use the Perfect Push-up thing, pullup bars, and the Ab Roller. I run, more aerobic and endurance stuff because that’s what really has to be brought out when you’re filming. You’ll be able to last a lot longer than the guy who is bulkier and built. I do push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups; all simple stuff that people underestimate.
