According to the book ‘Brando Unzipped’ – Marlon was also fiercely proud of his bisexuality, going so far as to pose for the shot below, with one of his many male lovers.

The book, entitled ‘Brando Unzipped’, claims the legendary star, who died in 2004 aged 80, was insatiable in the bedroom and slept his way through some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, both male and female.

During the filming of Streetcar Named Desire (1951), in the garden of Vivien Leigh’s mansion, David Niven discovered Brando and Laurence Olivier swimming in the pool. Olivier was kissing Brando. ‘I turned my back to them and went back inside to join Vivien. I’m sure she knew what was going on, but she made no mention of it. Nor did I. One must be sophisticated about such matters in life.’
He also appears to have had a long-term relationship with an actor named Wally Cox. ‘If Wally had been a woman, I would have married him and we would have lived happily ever after.’ Wally Cox died in 1973, but Brando kept his ashes for 30 years and they were eventually scattered with his own. I think that tells you something…

Porter writes: “James Dean was one of Brando’s most lasting yet troubled gay relationships. They had a relationship for a number of years but it was always turbulent.
“At one point they had a big stand-up fight at a party in Santa Monica, California, witnessed by dozens of people.

“His affair with Montgomery Clift was a long and enduring relationship.
“Marlon had a bit of a fling with Cary Grant, spending a weekend with him in San Francisco. Cary was also pursuing the actor STEWART GRANGER, who became another of Marlon’s conquests.
“Marlon admired John Gielgud but they didn’t have a relationship, rather, Brando performed sexual favours for Gielgud and told friends, ‘I owed it to him because he really helped me with lines in JULIUS CAESAR.'”

In his 1976 biography THE ONLY CONTENDER, Brando, who was married three times, openly admitted his homosexuality.

He was quoted as saying, “Like a large number of men, I, too, have had homosexual experiences, and I am not ashamed.”

Brando was 80 when he died of lung disease in July 2004.
