QC Open Forum: Google To Ban Gay Porn From Blogger, Are You Concerned?
These are tough days for the porn industry, piracy, prudishness, strict guidelines. It’s like at every turn there’s something that makes it hard for people to fap in peace. All-mighty Google has spoken and starting March 23 they are going to ban practically all adult content (sexually explicit or showing graphic nudity) under their blogging service. Google has stated that they are not deleting material but they will put the offensive blogs behind a privacy wall only accessible to the admins until they clean things up, basically they are asking to pack their things and get out. Meaning that there’s a porn blackout coming to blogs that have a .blogspot.com address or ran with Blogger. The Daily Mail is taking credit stating that the change follows a campaign they started. Meanwhile, Reddit has tighten their policies with serious restrictions on sharing explicit photos. As The Guardian reports this attack on porn compromises the integrity of the web that sabotages free speech and connectivity. We ask you QC reader, what blogs that you visit often are being affected? UPDATE: Seems like Google has backtracked their initial position and reversed the move to censor nude and sexually explicit material on Blogger. To clarify things, the Mountain View giant expressed in a post on its service that the change of mind corresponded to a “ton of feedback” they got from longtime users who thought it was unfair to suddenly change the policy. Guess they couldn’t predict that. Most nude photos on Blogger will still be marked by an “adult content” warning. Do you think this is a victory for free speech? Are you happy with this result?
