Thirdly, using the phrase, “Who identify” is bogus. Anyone who believes that ONLY 366 incidents of Domestic Violence within the GLBT community (in San Fran) happened in 2005 needs a serious reality check. “The decrease in incidents is due to normal fluctuations in reporting…” So in other words, this is completely skewed and isn’t accurate! That is like saying the rise in electricity bills during December is normal due to Christmas lights…Well, no shit.

Reports of domestic violence in San Francisco’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community decreased in 2005, according to a survey released Monday by Community United Against Violence. The organization documented 366 domestic violence incidents in 2005, down from 416 the year before. The majority of the 2005 reports, 261, came from people who identify as lesbian or gay, and more men reported being victims than did women.
The instances of verbal, physical and emotional abuse came from people who called a crisis phone line or sought help from Community United Against Violence or the Asian Women’s Shelter.
The decrease in incidents is due to normal fluctuations in reporting, said Shawna Virago, director of the domestic violence survivor program at Community United Against Violence.
The organization provides counseling, restraining order assistance and vouchers for temporary housing to victims of domestic violence. The phone number of the group’s 24-hour crisis line is (415) 333-4357.
