Founded by Kevin Platte in 1994, the DC Cowboys dance company is an 18-member, all-male, all-volunteer, performing arts organization for gay men in the Washington, DC–metropolitan area. Metro Weekly magazine has described the Cowboys’ style as a “trademark combo of Broadway-caliber verve, sizzling sex appeal, and rugged good looks.”
Internationally acclaimed, the Cowboys specialize in high-energy, professional dance numbers which span all musical genres from sexy club mixes to musical theater to contemporary country. The company also provides free entertainment to HIV/AIDS charitable service organizations. After their triumphant debut in Washington, DC at the 1994 Atlantic Stampede, the critical acclaim and extraordinary bookings have been continuous.
Combining a little traditional country-western with jazz, musical theater, cabaret dance, and a masculine sex appeal which sets them apart from other dance groups, the DC Cowboys’ high-energy choreography thrills crowds wherever they entertain—around the Washington DC metropolitan area, across the US and in Canada. As a grant recipient from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts, the DC Cowboys have been honored for their valued contribution to the Washington, DC arts community.
Organizations the DC Cowboys have worked with include:
Washington, DC AIDS Ride
Washington, DC AIDS Walk
Chase Brexton Clinic of Baltimore, MD
Northern Virginia AIDS Ministry
Whitman Walker Clinic of Washington, DC
Food and Friends of Washington, DC
Mautner Project
Gay Latino Benefits in Metro DC
Harford County AIDS/Cancer Benefit, MD
Community Outreach
In addition to providing entertainment for HIV/AIDS organizations, the DC Cowboys have supported community-based companies through other monetary donations raised at the monthly DC Cowboy party and through charitable efforts (such as the 2007 Calendar and DVD project).
These organizations include:
Whitman Walker Clinic of Washington
Lazarus House in New Orleans (after Hurricane Katrina)
The DC Cowboys also promote the message of safe sex. At its monthly fundraiser, the DC Cowboys hand out safe-sex packets which include condoms and information about HIV and AIDS.

Craig-
A native of Baltimore, MD, but now residing in DC, Craig has been dancing since the age of fourteen. Although relatively new to the world of “country” dancing, he is trained in ballet, tap and jazz. He has an extensive background in theatre, having performed in theatres all over the east coast. He has toured with productions of “A Chorus Line” and “42nd Street,” in addition to many regional, summer stock and dinner theatre credits. Craig has also worked as a director and choreographer for many theatres and serves as one of the DC Cowboys choreographers. His hobbies include drawing, painting, reading and working out. By day, he works as a Contract Administrator for The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the Screen Actors Guild (AFTRA-SAG), two unions that represent professional performers. He plans to pursue a Masters in Arts Management.
Birth Sign: Aries
Height: 5′ 11″
Weight: 170
Boot Size: 10
Fantasy Man: Hugh Jackman
Life Philosophy: Live life with no regrets
What Makes You Click?: Confidence, humor, a muscular body
Craig, thank you for doing this interview. Wow, talk about dark and smoldering-good looks! You put the YEE in the HAW! How long you been with the group and how did you get your start?
Craig: Thanks for the compliments. I’ve been with the group for 5 years now. I actually started dancing when I was 14 in a local community theatre production of GUYS AND DOLLS, and things just kind of grew from there. I was introduced to the group by another member whom I’d done some shows with. He mentioned that the group was looking for new members and that I should come down and audition. I did, and the rest is history.
You mentioned in your profile a bloody-back flip event…lol Tell us about it?
Well, we were learning a new number (not one that I choreographed, by the way) and we were supposed to stand back-to-back and link arms with our partner. The one partner would then bend forward and flip the other person over their back. Well, my partner had never done this before, so I don’t think he knew exactly how far to bend over and when to let go of me. So, basically he flipped me over his head and threw me on the floor! Not intentionally, of course, but that’s pretty much what happened. Even worse is that 2 other guys in the group were spotting us – obviously they weren’t doing a very good job!
The T-shirts in your nightstand with the condoms and lube? Would that be for clean up?..lol The contents of a nightstand tell so much don’t you think?
Craig: Yeah, kind of like finding out what a woman carries in her purse! The night stand is really a mini-dresser, so I have lots of different T-shirts in there. My workout shirts, undershirts, tight- fitting t-shirts for going out…you get the picture. The condoms and lube are just there for convenience.
What is the sexiest part of a man for you? Why?
Craig: Well, actually what draws me most to a man is more how he presents himself than a specific body part. I can be attracted to different types of guys if they have a quality about them that I respond to. If two hot guys walk in the room, I will probably be more drawn to the one who shows me personality and charm rather than just being what I call a “poser”. But if you want me to pick a body part, I love a nice ass! God, I love men’s butts. They’re just so sexy to me. I love to watch men walk, you know what I mean?
Finish this sentence. Growing up, Craig was…
Craig: SHY! I was painfully shy as a kid, even as a teenager. I’m
not as shy as I used to be, but even to this day, many people
describe me as quiet.
The most traumatic events in your life have been what? Why?
Craig: Just about anything from High School. Middle School as well. As I mentioned, I was extremely shy, but add on top of that the fact that I was skinny, had bad acne, braces and glasses. I was also kind of a geek and I SUCKED at sports. I was alwaysgetting picked last in gym class. And struggling with being gaydidn’t help things either. I was picked on alot, shoved into lockers, called names…the usual. But hey, those guys are all bald and fat now, and I’m not!
The most joyous times in your life have been?
Craig: Now – my 30’s. I feel like I came into my own in my 30’s. I’ve been much happier. I found a career doing something I like. I’ve had the chance to work with some great people and travel to some cool cities and experience things I didn’t think I’d ever get to do. I’m happier, healthier and in better shape than I’ve ever been.
If a teenager came up to you and asked how he could become as good as you dancing one day, what advice would you give him?
Craig: Practice, practice, practice! If you want to be a good dancer, you have to get training. Obviously you have to have some natural ability, ’cause if you have no talent, it doesn’t matter how many classes you take, you aren’t gonna be a dancer. But, ifyou have the ability, get out there and start taking classes. But look around first – you want to find a good studio with good teachers. Ask around. Take a trial class. But definitely, get the training. There are so many people out there that think just because they have rhythm and can go out to a club and dance, that hat makes them a dancer. All you have to do is watch shows like “So You Think You Can Dance?” and watch the open call audition to see how many untrained dancers are out there.
If you could change something in the world for GLBT youth what would it be?
Craig: I would make the world more accepting of people. We all have different opinions and different points of view, and we’re all never gonna agree on things. So we have to learn how to be accepting and tolerant of others. To just accept the fact that people are different and that’s OK, so long as we all get along. As long as you’re not hurting anyone, live and let live. There is some progress being made. I see different countries allowing gay marriages, so the ball is rolling. But then I open a newspaper and I am sadly reminded of just how much hatred and ignorance there is out there.
How do you like those QC T’s?
Craig: They’re great! How do I look in them?
You Look Amazing!!
QC will be featuring more of these studs over the next couple months. Enjoy…Ride A Horse, Now A Cowboy!!!!

My boyfriend was listening to his headphones one evening on the computer and he really seemed to be enjoying the music. It happened to be one of those lazy evenings when you just get some much needed downtime together. Eventually, he looked over at me as I was reading and said you should hear this guy sing. So he turns up the speakers and comes over to lay his head on my lap on the couch and we listen for a long time.
This gorgeous-masculine voice singing songs that touch every area of the GLBT community. His cathartic muse with notes was soothing and yet very alive. My entire family is music oriented and we all play instruments being connoisseurs of vast genres of music so, interested in the voice singing, we listened and just enjoyed the time spent having someone speak our language.
If you took Toad The Wet Sprocket, Hootie, Coban, Tori Amos, Jewel and Jefferson Airplane’s talent and mixed it in a blender, you have Eric Himan. This man of song, gay and very handsome, reaches out to the GLBT community through music. His words speak to the soul. Souls damaged by society, government, fear, shame, guilt and hope. He speaks our language because he lives our lives. He knows us intimately because he is one of us. He doesn’t sell out to the big labels who will censor his path of music and audience.
I wanted to make sure I wasn’t being biased on my view of him because he is a gay artist, so without them knowing, I tested my theory on three 19 yr olds. Two are gay, one is straight and one being my son, one being my brother and one being the bf of my brother. I had them listen to his music and they loved him. My son and brother are both musicians and found his music to be “modern with an old style to it” the other commented “this guy has soul.”
We then talked about how he is a gay artist and how his songs reach out to the GLBT community and most importantly to the youth who are currently going through what this man and men our age have dealt with. He sings of experience, he sings with passionate understanding of what being gay and afraid, hurt, abused and in love means in our world. I implore every person to listen to this artist. I especially hope the youth take note of this mans talent and listen to his music. Eric, is an all-around good man. He reaches out to his fans and draws inspiration from them and what we face daily.
I was once told, “You know your music is important when it touches another soul enough to make them feel the passion within the music.” Eric’s music not only makes you feel the passion within the music, but reminds you why it’s important we (GLBT) are here.
(Biography Via Eric Himan’s MySpace)
Eric Himan doesn’t like to stay in one place for long. Call it boredom, ADD or just plain old desire, but after just a few days of loitering the road beckons for Eric like an old friend to whom he credits his success as a musician. So he spends more time in his trusty minivan, speeding off to his next tour date in Anytown, USA than relaxing at home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Its a testament to Eric’s passion for music and for entertaining fans that few musicians have the stamina to maintain. Eric says, “Being in one place seems like I’m at a stand still. Being on the road allows me time to think, do a lot of planning, reflecting and finding ways to push myself to go further. Constantly moving has always been more successful for me.”
![]()
Eric has come a long way in the six short years since his humble beginning entertaining crowds in colleges near his alma mater, Penn State University, but his love affair with the nomadic life began much earlier when he plucked his first guitar string or struck a chord. While Eric lives by the motto “Don’t ask me where I’m from, ask me where I’m going,” his past has much to do with the life he now pursues with great fervor. Growing up with a father in the military, Eric constantly relocated, shuffling through cities and states without enough time to put down serious roots. It was then that Eric first found comfort in the roads traveled and sought solace in the music of Black Crowes, Ani DiFranco, Richie Havens, and Patty Griffin whose styles have influenced Eric’s own songwriting. It wasn’t until he attended Penn State University that he picked up a guitar and became a coffee shop crooner.
Eric released his debut CD and founded his own independent label, Thumbcrown Records. He quickly gained a “cult” following and broke from the idea of being a small-town act, for his unique sound that transgressed genres as he penned songs that dabbled in Blues, Folk, Pop, Blue Grass, Country, and Rock all served up with a pinch of wit and charm. Eric has shared the stage with Cyndi Lauper, India Arie, Ru Paul, En Vogue, Duncan Sheik, Melissa Ferrick, and many more, but it isn’t just the music that keeps audiences coming back for more. His shows are not about theatrics and superstardom, instead, his shows are intimate and fans cant help but feel as though their best friend is onstage. Eric forges personal relationships with many of his fans with his disarming charm and approachability.
Eric releases his fifth studio album, Everywhere All At Once, which was written entirely while touring, he hits the road for another string of tour dates throughout the country. Audiences will notice a different sound than his previous collections of music, for Eric considers this release to be his “most personal” to date. Eric states, “This CD is more like me, I was able to say what I wanted while being honest about my feelings. Instead of trying to tell myself what my feelings were. Whether its happy, sad or confused. I feel like I grew as a songwriter.” While Everywhere All at Once is a CD about love, it strays from the narratives of grieving over lost loves that proliferate the ballads of many artists and celebrates love in its various forms. It is with this perspective that Eric reveals his most personal thoughts about the struggles that he and those near to him have faced with romantic relationships, familial love, breast cancer, homophobia, and surviving Hurricane Katrina, an event that hit close to home for Eric who endured the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Over the past six years, fans have been granted the unique opportunity to hear Eric mature as a songwriter and as a man through his music. Everywhere All At Once is the closest thing to a testament to Eric’s “coming of age” that listeners will get, for it shows that Eric’s ever-evolving style has achieved a maturity that is sure to entice the most cynical of listeners and secure his position as a driving force as an independent artist. Eric’s past begs his favorite question, where is he going? The answer is obvious for anyone who shares Eric’s obsession with passion, growth and love; Everywhere All At Once.
Eric, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy touring schedule to do this interview. I and my entire family have now become some of your biggest fans.
Thanks for writing and thanks to the family for listening! Good to talk to you.
I, for one, appreciate having a talented-gay artist out there beating the roads and blazing the path for our community. When did you first realize you were gay and what was that like for your childhood?
I think I realized early on, of course, but I think it wasn’t sexual until later on. I knew I liked being around the boys but didn’t know why. Then you hit adolescence and it scares the crap out of you because then you realize why. My childhood was very good. My parents never forced masculine roles on me and feminine on my sister. We could explore what we wanted. I thank them for that.
Tell us about your first boyfriend…
I don’t know if this counts because it wasn’t sexual, but I used to hang out with this guy on the wrestling team in high school. We both liked music and hung around each other twenty four seven. Once our schedules were different and filled up our time, we lost touch. I consider that to be my first boyfriend whether he knows he was or not, ha!
Are you currently single or dating? We want details music man… I saw the ring on the finger:):)
I am partnered, I guess you could say. But, that word sounds so business like to me, partnered. A friend of mine in Florida said it best, we are happily attached. We did exchange rings. I guess when you legally can’t do much else, more the reason to make up your own rules:).
Are you very close with your family? Any siblings?
I am close with my family. My mom and sister passed away when I was young and my grandparents moved in when I was four. A lot of love came out of personal tragedy. I do have a sister I am close with and she knows more gay men than I do!
The tatts; very cute, sexy even. Why so many?
They are addictive!! Two arms and a chest full of them later, I think I am done. Maybe.
What are some of your favorite cities to play? Why?
I love all the cities I play!! ha. I do have my personal favorites. I love Newport, Rhode Island. It is great in the summer. I love the big cities ie New York City, San Fran, San Diego. I do have a special place in my heart for Tulsa, OK though. That is where I met my unlawfully wedded man.
What are 3 of your biggest fears?
I am not a big fan of flying these days with all the pandemonium so that is one. Fear of failure never seems to go away but tends to motivate. A fear of getting bit by a bee. MAN, that hurt once.
Touring all the time it must be hard to have roots. Do you have close friends? How do they impact your life?
I am lucky to have and make friends all over the country. They keep me rooted more than anything and make it possible to travel with a safety net. Sleeping on couches and tour guiding me through their towns. Without my friends, I am just a guy with a guitar singing in the shower.
The world for GLBT people keeps changing on a dime, everyday new challenges and obstacles, government policies and discrimination…What do you say to the teenagers, the youth, to help them find hope in tomorrow?
I say to the GLBT youth, get as much information that is out there on GLBT issues. Keep your eyes and ears open for changes whether they be socially or politically charged. The more knowledge you have, the better equipped you are to stand up to those who discriminate.
You obviously have overcome a lot in your life which shows lyrically in your music. How has your history developed and correlated with your music and passion?
Wow, I think anyone who listens to all my cds can hear the difference in each one. I have grown in many ways. I started writing in high school and through college from 16-23. Now the songs I wrote are from such a different place from a 27 year olds perspective. I write from my point of view most times and it is usually about feelings I feel alone in. I put it out there whether I’m scared or not. The best thing that keeps me passionate about playing music is putting those feelings out and having someone say, “I felt like I was the only one who felt that way”. The best is when I say it back to them! I love making those connections.
How does Eric plan to make a difference in the world?
By telling my story. By sharing my thoughts. That is something we all can do. We get bogged down with these social rules and game playing. Being honest about your struggles and life can teach someone about their struggles and life. You find that happening a lot in folk music throughout history.
You played at the closing ceremonies of the Gay Games. You met and sang on the same stage as Cyndi Lauper, what was that whole experience like for you?
It was amazing. It was the largest captive audience I ever played for. Then you look over and see Cyndi Lauper and go, Holy Crap! It makes you trust life more and the where it takes you. I never thought I would be up there with her at Wrigley Field…Crazy AND to see all the athletes out there filling up a stadium for a gay event was incredible. It was great just to be part of it!

What do you find attractive, sexy and appealing in a man?
Honesty, first and foremost, and eyes. They go hand in hand. Looking into someone’s eyes sometimes tells more than their words. They have to have charm. It’s hard to explain but you know it when you find it.
Is Eric Himan a good boy or a naughty boy?
I am a good boy. What’s wrong with good boys? ha. My tattoos usually make me out to be a bad boy but if you look closer, you will see they are upbeat cartoons and even a poem by Langston Hughes. It’s all about the closer look.
Which of your songs draw the most emotion and passion from you? Why?
My new cd, Everywhere All At Once, has a few songs that are very emotive. One of which is the song, “What I Can Give”. I wrote it for my significant other’s mother. She is going through breast cancer for the second time. She is an amazing woman who is always smiling. I had this sweet, lullaby of a melody that just made me think of her and what I wanted her to know. That song can choke me up in some places. Here are the words:
I wish I had a song to sing for you
to gather the strength that each day must take to go through what you do.
so many things we take for granted too easily
one day it hits, reminds us the courage it takes not to quit..
I could offer ten thousand tears, a field of white daffodils
with these things what could you do?
But this is what I can give to you..
This is what I can give to you.
May not be much, you’ve been through enough
just know it is me, you have touched.
3 things that have impacted your career and music the most?
Three things that impacted my career the most…hmm. My father, for giving me my first guitar and letting me find my sound in my own time. Ani DiFranco, for showing me that you can not only talk openly about GLBT issues in a poetic way but also start your own independent label and be successful at it. Last, my friends for coming out and supporting me where ever I played no matter if anyone knew who I was or not. I love them.
What celebrities/musicians make you go wow, now he is HOT? Why?
Haha…I don’t find many celebrities hot. I used to think Matthew McConaughey
was hot, the big smile, the charisma. He just has charm, but after seeing him so much, you get desensitized. Instead of “Wow, he looks hot!” I go, “Hey, that’s Matthew McConaughey.” Though, as a youngster, I did have a thing for Patrick Dempsey when he was in “Loverboy”(anyone remember that movie?!). I still think he is great now in Grey’s Anatomy for the same reasons, lots of charm.
What is your biggest dream?
To get the chance to play alongside some of my musical influences. I think that is a dream of many musicians. To get that opportunity would be tremendous.
3 things most people do not know about me…
Hmm…. You spend so much time throwing yourself out there in your music, what haven’t I told people? ha. Well, again, I am a good guy not a bad boy, I will watch movies over and over again ie. Party Girl (which pisses off some of my friends), and I am a workaholic. I am lucky that my work is also my play. So i guess that makes me a playaholic.
If I could change two things in the history of the world they would be?
I would change laws that discriminate especially those against GLBT issues, of course, and I would change the way the media dictates how the public should look. A big problem in our world (especially with gay male and women) is image. Lots of money is spent on making yourself look like somebody else, whether you have the ability or not. We should embrace who we see in the mirror, flaws and all.
The last time you cried was…
When I drove away from Tulsa to go back on the road last December. I looked in my rearview mirror and saw my boyfriend waving goodbye. I wrote a song about it all the way home to Pittsburgh appropriately titled, “Tulsa”.
The most beautiful song ever written is?
This is going back a ways but “Hands To Heaven” by Breathe is still one of the most beautiful sounding songs to me. “Fool That I Am” by Etta James. And oh! “I Love You, Porgy” by Nina Simone.
A night alone finds Eric doing what?
Well, a night to myself and alone is rare so it would be singing in my room playing guitar with one lamp on, listening to some Nina or Etta, and a piece of paper to write down lyrics.
The most romantic moment of your life has been?
Asking my happily attached partner to marry me. We were under a streetlamp in a downtown area out in public. I was in town for a short time and I didn’t know when I was going to be back to see him so I got down on one knee and asked him right there. It was not only romantic but one of the most important parts of my life thus far.
Do you dream of having a husband and children one day?
Well, as of the last question, I feel somewhat halfway there. As for children, I would love to raise a child in this world. I don’t know when it will happen but I am sure it will. My unlawfully wedded husband has a baby face so I can see him producing some cute kids too.
Famous last interview question in all QC interviews. Eric what makes you CLICK?
Coffee in the early morning, seeing a crowd and focusing on one person and looking them in the eye making a connection, kisses from my love, an acoustic guitar with loose strings, an echoing stairwell to sing my lungs out, and a smile from a new friend.

CHILLTOWN IN DA HOHOUSE!
Jedi Goes Bye-Bye, 3-2.
George’s short lived HoH backfires for his Jedi Master Howie, who is evicted in a 3-2 double-cross by Chilltown. Boogie pulls out all the stops to win the HoH, which effectively nullifies his Coup d’Etat power.
APPRENTICE GRADUATES TO HOH MASTER
Marcellas’ eviction signals to Janelle that she is being deceived. “I feel like a fricken fool,” she bitches in the Diary Room. “From now on, I’m going to do what I want, what’s good for me.” George’s win in the HoH Competition has not only the HouseGuests scratching their heads, but also George. “I won something, Howie,” he celebrates with his Jedi Master after the game. “Did I just lose to Chicken George?” Danielle sighs, disbelieving the outcome. George’s surprises don’t stop there though, as host Julie Chen asks George for two immediate nominations for eviction. George taps James and Erika, sending shockwaves through the house. Erika is tired of being on the block, while James launches into a vengeful new rant in his bedroom, “It’s on, fat man, it’s on. He’s got two days of power, and then his ass is mine.” Boogie feels stymied by George’s immediate nominations as he assembles with his Legion pals in the gym, growling, “That was the worst person to do live, because he didn’t know. We didn’t have time to get to him.” Danielle hopes that George might backdoor Janelle, as “that’s one less person I have to worry about in this game.”
According to Boogie, George’s HoH Room is a “really cool throwback 70s thing.” For George, he likes the space for its Austin Powers feel. Letters from home bring a smile to George’s face and heart as he is reminded “of the way things should be in life.” His peaceful reminiscence is short-lived, though, as his housemates start some intense lobbying efforts. Janelle and Howie are the first to state their case. At ease with the last remaining members of S-6, George reassures them, “If I was going to go after you guys, I would have already done it. Why would I go after you guys?”
CARDS ON THE TABLE
George calls everyone to the living room to pick players for the Veto Competition. George draws Howie’s name, Erika draws Danielle and James pulls out Will’s name. James is psyched that he will be playing the PoV with three of his Legion allies, and Boogie is eyeing an opportunity to backdoor “queen bee” Janelle.
Boogie heads upstairs to talk with George. Asking the chicken man to see the “big picture” of what the house wants, he tells George that James is the wrong target. The house really wants Janelle out, and George goes along, he will get “a pass to the back of the line for another couple weeks.” George listens, but does not appear too enthused by Boogie’s suggestion.
GNOME NIGHTMARE
The PoV Competition sees the return of the BIG BROTHER Gnomes in “Gnome is Where the Veto Is.” Will is not impressed, moaning, “There’s three things I hate in life: robot clowns, baby corn and freaky little gnomes.” Janelle runs over the rules. The HouseGuests have to carry their Veto symbol from one stump across to a winning spike on a distant stump. The problem is that they are locked into ankle restraints tethering them where they are. To unlock the restraint, they have to reach a key hanging out of reach. To reach their key, they are only able to use tape and the leftover items from past PoV Competitions. From pink flamingos to hula-hoop, the HouseGuests do their inventive best to construct a tool to reach their keys. James is a veritable Einstein and reaches his bag after a few aborted efforts, freeing himself first to win the PoV. “Go to hell, bitches,” he snarls, slamming his Veto symbol onto the winning spike.
James’ win starts a whole new round of lobbying for George to endure. First, James drops in, asking who George is going to replace him with on the block. George stays mum on the subject. Next, Erika visits, striking a deal for a new alliance. Then it is Boogie’s turn to manipulate the chicken man. In a subtly intimidating way, Boogie points out the numbers and asks what side George wants to be after the vote is cast. Will follows Boogie, but his offer is a more “unconventional” suggestion to put Will on the block. This way, Will explains, “it will keep peace in the house this week, (and) allow Janelle and Danielle to continue to war with each other, while Mike Boogie and I, and you sit back and watch.” George buries his head in his hands as all the suggestions seem to become too much for him…

Radcliffe, who is currently filming Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, will play Alan Strang, a psychologically disturbed youth who is interviewed by a psychiatrist after he blinds six horses with a metal spike in Peter Shaffer’s controversial drama in London next year. But the role would require Radcliffe to simulate sexual ecstasy while riding naked. This is a departure for Radcliffe, whose career has been dominated by his part as JK Rowling’s teenage wizard. He recently finished filming December Boys, in which he plays one of four orphans hoping to be adopted.
“This is an extraordinary play and, yes, there is a scene of nudity in it, but that’s not what the play is about,” said Radcliffe’s publicist Vanessa Davies. “He finishes shooting ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ in October or November and rehearsals are starting in January,” she added. The play is expected to open in March.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the fifth J.K. Rowling book to be turned into a film. There are doubts about whether Radcliffe can continue to play the boy wizard until the end of the series. Rowling is now writing the seventh and final book of the hugely successful series. The first four Harry Potter films have amassed around 1.8 billion pounds worldwide at the box office.
Rainbow Flag draws Phelps, MTV

The uproar surrounding a rainbow flag that was flown at a bed-and-breakfast in Meade is not going away. The trouble began when the 12-year-old son of JR and Robin Knight sent the flag to his parents from California. The Knights say they flew the flag because it was a gift and it was colorful. Then the local newspaper ran a picture and said the flag was a symbol of gay rights. Two brothers who stole the flag have apologized, saying they were trying to stop the fighting in town over the flag. After the fight received national publicity, Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church plan to protest the bed-and-breakfast later this month. And MTV says it is coming to Meade to do a story. The Knights say they plan to have a party when the Phelps protest is held on August 27th.
Life Is So Hard For The Thorpedo

He’s been accused of getting fat on hamburgers and the Hollywood high life while frittering away his gold medal chances at the Beijing Olympics. That sort of hype is exactly why super swimmer Ian Thorpe, one of Australia’s most decorated and high-profile athletes, says he left Sydney to train in Los Angeles. The public attention has become so intense, the 23-year-old Thorpe admits to thinking of retiring from competitive swimming almost daily. Thorpe denies his diet is anything but wholesome or that he parties all night with Aussie celebrities like actor like Heath Ledger; claims he is training 40 hours a week and – as for the persistent rumors that he is gay – they’re like water off a duck’s back.
“It sounds like a real glamorous life in Hollywood, but really it’s not,” Thorpe says in an Australian cable television interview to be aired Sunday night, adding that he wastes too much time having to avoid photographers who camp outside his house. “I kind of hoped that I could have some privacy,” he said in comments from the TV interview published by News Ltd. “There is really a line there that has been blatantly abused.”
“You just ask the question, why is this happening? I really don’t think I deserve it. It’s just really upsetting.” Thorpe was infuriated by a report in the Sydney Morning Herald earlier this month that read: “He munches on pizza and hamburgers and slurps cola. He hasn’t been training. And Ian Thorpe, the five-time Olympic champion, is getting fat.”
“I think my diet is about as perfect as one’s diet can be,” Thorpe countered. “I prepare everything myself. I go shopping for groceries. I buy organic … it’s a lot of work, a lot of effort. “But I refuse to take vitamins and refuse to take supplements.” He allows himself a hamburger once a week, and the occasional glass of red wine. “I have the same (burger) every time,” he says. “A double protein burger wrapped in lettuce leaves … It’s not the best thing to eat, but it’s one of the allowances I give myself.” He thinks he’s about 103-104 kilograms (227-229 pounds), but is confident of being back at racing weight of under 101 kilograms (223 pounds) within two months.
Thorpe says his lifestyle is not as exciting as people seem to think, although he does socialize with a cross-section of people. “I’m not going to apologize for who my friends are or what they do,” he said. “I know what I’m doing and I, kind of, at times wish my life was as exciting as people make it out to be.”
As for the subject of his sexuality, Thorpe is beyond worrying. “People will tell you black and blue that I am gay,” he says. “There is no basis for what they are saying. “It’s no big deal because that doesn’t affect any part of my life. I don’t care what people are saying in that regard … It’s not embarrassing.”
Thorpe is skipping the Pan Pacific championships in Victoria, Canada to concentrate on December’s Australian trials for the world championships in Melbourne next March. He has not raced internationally since the 2004 Athens Olympics. After a post-Athens sabbatical, he raced twice in Australia before illness and a broken bone in his hand postponed his return to peak competition.
In that time, constant speculation that he may never regain the form that helped him shatter a series of world records have plagued Thorpe. “Over the last couple of months, I toyed with the question of quitting virtually daily,” he says. “I love training, I love racing, but you know the things that come with it – the unwanted attention – it does affect you. “I can’t run from it. I just have to deal with it.” Thorpe said he would never recapture the dominance he had earlier in his career that made him a giant in the sport, but he wants to do the best he can with what he’s got left.
“I’m committed to swimming the best that I can. I think I have very limited time that I am still going to get to swim and to race at this absolute peak, ” he says. “I want to swim and blow myself away. “I don’t even know if Beijing is even going to be the end. I might continue. I thought before it would be, but I may go on a little bit longer.”

Fantasia’s LifeTime Movie (Was It Supposed To Be Horror?)

(Excerpts of Story by Ray Richmond) VIA Reuters
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – When Ann Jillian starred in her own overcoming-adversity autobiopic in 1988, it seemed to make sense. For one thing, the woman was a real actress. For another, she was 38 and had lived some real life before contracting breast cancer and undergoing a devastating double mastectomy.
Jillian’s role in “The Ann Jillian Story” earned her a Golden Globe win as well as an Emmy nomination. Contrast this with Lifetime’s “The Fantasia Barrino Story: Life Is Not a Fairy Tale,” based on a best-selling bio and starring Barrino as Barrino. Yes, she endured a string of jerky guys, a pregnancy (following an alleged rape), single motherhood at age 17, grinding poverty and the burden of going through life with a name taken from a Disney movie before winning on “American Idol.” Great stuff. But she’s also 22. To say that Barrino’s story is incomplete is the essence of understatement.
Oh, one other problem: Barrino can’t act. She’s very sweet and all, but she tends to gobble her words and expresses range by lowering her eyes, as if the answer to life lay somewhere at her feet. So while it’s an interesting idea to try to tell the tale of a life in progress through the woman living that life, the capacity to convey a certain depth of emotion on cue would seem to be a minimum prerequisite. And Barrino obviously tries hard but can’t pull it off, no matter how much director Debbie Allen tries to drill it into her. The result is an assortment of awkwardly delivered clichés in search of a greater purpose that it never quite finds.
Not to minimize Fantasia’s triumphant struggle, but as a film story line it tends to have all the compelling drama of watching wax drip from a burning candle. It’s only when she is performing that “Life Is Not a Fairy Tale” comes to life; it’s on a concert stage holding a microphone where Barrino clearly belongs, not a soundstage trying to hold her own. She’s a dynamic presence as a songstress and a dull washout as an actress. But this shouldn’t be news. The curiosity is why she was allowed to impersonate herself to begin with. Oh yeah, that’s right: If she didn’t, there would be no movie. As it is, there’s only the hint of one.
MY NOTE: I caught this nightmare of a movie this weekend on Lifetime. Dear lawd, it was like 2 hours in a dentists chair. I can’t believe they put this crap on TV. Lifetime, stick to depressing movies that actually have a finale. By the middle of this movie I wanted to dig my eyes out with a rusty spoon.

I Admit It He Is Hot!!! (Channing Tatum; Step Up!)

So, once upon a time, there was a boy from the “Wrong Side of the Tracks” who had to do community service at the art school he vandalized because he’s misunderstood. He meets a Privileged Ballerina who needs a dance partner and…. Step Up is totally predictable and, oddly, completely engaging. Wisely, the director (first-timer Anne Fletcher) does a lot of what she does best: sexy, frenetic dance sequences that blend ballet and hiphop to electrifying effect. Sure, there’s some plot here (ambition, race/class stuff, the requisite romance), but the reason to see this movie is simple: it’s all in the dancing.

How drunk would you have to be…?
More hilarious experiments from “探偵ナイトスクープ”. This time – Can you see your own asshole without using a mirror?
They get various guys off the streets (including some sportsmen) to attempt this feat. This is how the game is played – A sticker is placed on the asshole and you’re to find out what word/character is written on the sticker. We burst out laughing when they played Miyuki Nakajima’s “Chijou no Hoshi” in the background at one point. We love the Japanese!

These amusing video snippets are taken off a late night Japanese variety programme “探偵ナイトスクープ” (Tantei Night Scoop). “Tantei” means “detective”.
Here, they are trying to prove that testicles move by themselves.
The boys each took their turns to see if their balls move but there was one who had a lil problem… and guess which of Utada Hikaru’s song they played during that segment? Hilarious!
Try it at home! Do yours move? We certainly hope so!
(Thanks Kenta!)
