If you frequent QueerClick, you know we recently posted an Cocksure Men update featuring Nick—a straight model who died accidentally a few years ago. According to police reports, there was no foul play. It was not a suicide. We initially posted the images of Nick and later pulled them thinking the whole update was in poor taste. I guess that got some attention. Cocksure Men contacted us today and they gave us their perspective on the issue:
…we knew when we were adding it that it was going to be a controversial decision, but it was a bit of a damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don’t thing. Cocksure Men has two updates per week. The majority of the content is new, but we’ve also included a lot of the “non-Jake” scenes from Jake Cruise. People have asked to see lots of those classic scenes and since we have a non-Jake site, it made sense to include them. You have the option of joining either site. If you want to see Jake with the guys, join Jake Cruise. If you just want to see the guys solo or together, join Cocksure Men.
Had we not included it, people would have said we were “making” them join Jake Cruise to see Nick’s solo scene, and if we included it (which we chose to do), we would be called out for using older images of a model who died in an accident quite a while after we shot him. The fans asked for him and we answered that call.
Our decision also took into account that many other adult performers have died—including Joey Stefano whose videos are still huge sellers, Casey Donovan, Leo Ford and many of my other favorite porn stars—and it’s never been suggested that their DVDs be deleted. Rightfully so. Leo’s movie Blondes Do It Best is one of my favorite porn movies ever. John Holmes died in the 80s and you can still buy his DVDs.
Nick looks amazing in his scene. He’s got a great body, a handsome face and he has a presence that jumps off the screen. He was very proud of how well this shoot came off and rightly so. It’s still a favorite with the fans all these years later. There’s no reason not to include it, really.

Okay, we were briefly duped! We thought Nick looked strangely familiar, and we should have picked up on the fact that his photos didn’t quite fit the usual style of Cocksure Men’s site. And then you guys reminded us of the sad truth—Nick tragically died a few years ago. While we’re all for remembering and honoring a past performer. (There’s no doubt, Nick was a handsome chap.) We’re absolutely cringing at him appearing on a website he knew nothing about—and worse, yet with no mention that honors his life, his contributions to gay porn or even a statement that sales from Nick’s “feature” will go toward stopping and preventing gay-related suicides or other important cause in our community.
