Newly-Retired Kevin Lengyel Fights to Become Cody Cummings Again
Everyone’s “favorite” gay-for-pay-but-not-actually-that-gay-because-he-never-ever-touches-a-penis-under-any-circumstances actor Cody Cummings is working his way back into our collective porn news cycle again, first by announcing a retirement and then by chronicling his battle to reclaim the name “Cody Cummings” (which legally belongs to Next Door Studios). So, for the present moment, Cody is going by his real name, Kevin Lengyel.
It feels a little strange calling him Kevin Lengyel, both because it’s not as charmingly alliterative as “Cody Cummings” and because it feels a little like peering behind the curtain. Like referring to Gene Simmons as Chaim Weitz or Mother Teresa as Anjezë Bojaxhiu (actual name). It just feels weird.
As for Kevin/Cody’s retirement, it seems to be the real deal. Though admittedly, these days announcing retirement from porn just seems to be what most actors do to fill a slow Thursday afternoon, like maniacal girl scouts just trying to make quota. Will anyone actually retire from the industry? I guess we’ll see.
Not that anyone really needs to give a reason for retirement (sometimes you just feel like retiring, ya know?), but Kevin/Cody’s reasons feel kinda flimsy. He cites a custody battle for his fifteen year old daughter, which is totally a great retirement reason. But then he suggests that part of the impetus for his retirement was the fact that his fans were getting tired of watching him get blowjob after blowjob without reciprocating, which is as silly as it is insulting. Admittedly, the QC reader reaction to Cody Cummings tends to confirm this diagnosis. I’m just kind of baffled as to why Cody/Kevin’s solution to boring content is to retire instead of trying to release hotter content. Is this a premature throwing-in of the towel?

So I guess the legal battle is on between Cody Cummings and Next Door Studios. Maybe the best woman win!
