The Friday Five – Steve Cruz

The Friday Five - Steve Cruz
The Friday Five brings you five sexy shots and five personal questions with porn’s hottest stars. This week, Steve Cruz steps up to the plate to share his upcoming porn projects, the secret to his relationship with hairy daddy Bruno Bond, and his two cents on barebacking.
1. Can you tell us a juicy tidbit about your upcoming directorial project, “Dark Room”?
Leif Gobo and I are finally making Dark Room, a fetish flick sponsored by SlickitUp.com. Johnny Gunn makes an appearance in his first gang bang orgy. Mustang Exclusive Samuel Colt is an athletic jock type that gets abducted and overpowered. And Alessio Romero gets a touch of Stockholm Syndrome for newcomer Tom Wolfe. It’s a twisted voyeur’s fantasy of hot masculine sex on demand. As always there will be new faces and porn favorites!
2. How do you feel about the rise of “free porn” sites like XTube and web-only “amateur” studios? Have they positively or negatively effected the professional porn star world?
It’s all the evolution of the times we live in, we are the DIY generation. And it’s neither a good or bad thing, we just have more to choose from. X-tube is what it is… home movies for the everyday guy. Now you too can make a sexy home video and post it to the web. Amateur sites are like the television of gay porn and the big studios are still like the Hollywood of gay porn. Did TV kill the movie business? No… but it changed it significantly and the movie world adapted. There can be stars in both genres and cross-over stars if the pro-am boys can adapt. It requires a lot more to make a movie. Anyway, the top producers might be losing some revenue now but it will shake out. They just have to endure this financial crisis that we’re all muscling through. Survivors will step up their game plan, flow with the current times and get out of their creative ruts. Or get in the game, which is why Bruno and I are launching a pro-am site in the fall, hardfriction.com.
3. How do you feel about barebacking (personally or professionally)? is it ever OK? Does it encourage unsafe sex?
If you are HIV negative, having bareback sex is always a risk. If you’re HIV positive having unprotected sex, with other men you know are HIV positive—that is much different. I hate to sound jaded, but in real life you can really only trust yourself. A trick you find on Manhunt may not be telling you the truth about his HIV situation; more likely he may not exactly know because his last test was over 12 months ago! I assume all men could be positive; now I protect myself as if they are. Apart from abstinence, the best protection we have against HIV is still the condom—it’s 98% effective when used correctly. Those are really good odds. You can visit howiroll.info and read information on how to use condoms effectively.
The tricky thing about most bareback porn is that the viewer doesn’t deal with HIV as a reality. Now, I assume everyone in the movie is probably positive because I live in a town where 1 out of every 4 men is POZ. A kid in a small town with no gay community and only porn as his sexual outlet, he might assume everyone is negative. Does a bareback movie encourage unsafe sex? Of course. Porn inspires sexual behavior. We watch it to get off! The models are moaning, “Oh yeah!! Oh yeah!!” not screaming, “NO!!!! NO!!!!”
4. We’re super envious of your relationship with Bruno Bond. Does performing sex on camera affect your personal sex life?
You don’t want me to burst a bubble, do ya? Listen, having sex on camera even as a single man would change your relationship with sex. In the beginning when I was new to this, I would hook up as much as I worked… but as time wore on I started craving quieter more intimate moments that aren’t always sexual. Emotional retreat. Bruno and I are great for each other because we understand the difference between work and play, we are equally driven and hard working and we don’t get jealous. Sex is great, but for me the best part of our relationship is our deepening friendship and understanding. Sex is adventure, capture and then it’s on to the next… you can build a life on a friendship.
5. What part of your body do you think is your greatest asset? How about your worst?
Some say my ass, some say my chest, some like my face… I’m not sure I’m the best person to ask, let’s let the fans decide… have a readers poll! Whatever it is it’s probably covered in hair.
