Wherein we bring you the conclusion of The Tale of CockyBoys Worst/Best Two Weeks Ever Told in Two Parts with Gratuitous Adjectives, Pictures, and High-Fives or Hugs, Depending on Which is More Appropriate at the Moment.
Cockyboys was in the news again last week when one of its models, Jett Black, accused the Royal Winnipeg Ballet of ejecting him based on his work with CockyBoys. You might remember Jett Black’s debut in February. Shortly after, Black claims he was forced to voluntarily withdraw from the the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (the phrase “forced to voluntarily withdraw tickles our funny bone).

In several different interviews on the subject, Black claims he has been unfairly ejected because the Royal Winnipeg Ballet is unfairly trying to constrain what they deem to be art. Jett Black (whose real name is Jeppe Hansen), has said,

You cannot be in a company or with the school or whatever because you’ve decided to take a different standpoint artistically — not because you physically can’t do it, or because you’re not good enough.

Being told because you’re doing something else that’s interrupting with what we think you can do is really difficult because they know it’s your passion, they know that that’s what you live off. They know my entire identity’s built on it. So it was really difficult to be told that and to be told, ‘You know what? There’s no space for you here.

Even if it clearly didn’t do much to keep him in the school, Black’s argument is a pretty smart one. Black forces the RWB to outright say that their problem is porn-specific. Nonetheless, maybe we shouldn’t be particularly surprised that an establishment as uppity/stuffy as the Royal Winnipeg Ballet didn’t buy the “porn is art” argument.
CBC notes that the only section of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Handbook that says anything about outside projects is tailored specifically for dancing:

“Please note that RWB School Professional Division students are not permitted to perform outside of the RWB School without permission from the RWB School Director. Any student wishing to participate in any additional dance program during RWB School breaks must also receive approval from the RWB School Director in advance. Requests for authorization must be submitted in writing.”

So it’s perhaps not entirely fair that he was ejected wholesale. Nonetheless, Black insists that he isn’t finished dancing. On the plus side, this media attention should do wonders for his porn career, both with CockyBoys and beyond.

In the wake of CockyBoys’ news-heavy month, we can’t help but wonder about the role pseudonymity plays in the porn industry. In both cases, though especially in Jake Jaxon’s case, pseudonyms help protect a person, his family, and his profession from any undue strain porn might cause. Though obviously in the case of both stories, we’re as guilty of reporting real names as anyone else, we have to wonder whether or not this kind of reporting should be taboo as a way of offering protection (however slight) to the person in question. Or maybe this line of questioning is naive. Any thoughts, QueerClickers?
