Wentworth Miller, We Want to Hug You

I am not sure how well-known this was, but there always was speculation that Wentworth Miller might be gay—so while we’re happy for him for his “I’m Gay!” announcement to the press, we’re actually not that shocked by the news the Prison Break star made.
Whether it was PR Genius or not-that-calculated of a move, we love the manner in which he did it! One, because despite what you’d think Hollywood still remains very homophobic on the level that you get work and the way it operates on an executive/marketing-level.
But best of all, Wentworth came out in response to an invitation to to come to brutally homophobic Russia for the St. Petersburg film festival. We just might love him for not making this 100% about him, but also exposing what’s going on in the country. Here’s his response;

Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes.
However, as a gay man, I must decline.
I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.
Perhaps, when and if circumstances improve, I’ll be free to make a different choice.
