QC Open Forum: Has The Porn Industry Failed To Make Racial Diversity A Priority?

A recent interview that porn star Sean Zevran gave to RentboyTalk kicked the discussion here at the QC headquarters and we thought that it was a good conversation topic for our readers. Sean briefly opened up about his experiences in the porn industry and how he, as a half white and half black person, has dealt with the prejudices of the medium. We feel, as he points it, that sometimes producers and porn studios take, sometimes totally deservedly, a lot of heat when it comes of showcasing a more racial diverse spectrum but audiences and consumers should also be able to make a mea culpa and recognize their share of the responsibility. As we said, it’s all part of a bigger conversation that if it’s had with respect it could only lead to benefits for both sides and general grow. We all have perks and preferences of the sexual stereotypes we feel attracted to but don’t you think that if we allowed ourselves to see beyond them we could discover new turn-ons? And that ultimately could give studios more freedom to make more racial diverse porn scenes? Guess what we’re trying to say is that we ask the industry for more diversity but oftentimes that request is not channeled properly and a good way to send them the message could be by showing them new consumer patterns that prove that audiences are ready. What’s your take on this topic? We look forward to hear your thoughts in the comments!
