QC Open Forum/QCommunity Crossover: Is Grindr Making Your Dating Life Easier Or Harder?

A reader has reached out to us and we’re letting the ~~QCommunity~~‘s wisdom chime in!

These days the interference of dating apps (and the facilitation of new connections to be completely fair) has been very well documented. But we have a very specific case for this QC Open Forum column. A 25yo struggles to figure out the dating scene and gets his heart crushed after finding a seemingly “genuine” down-to-earth guy with one fatal flaw, he’s apparently incapable to log off of Grindr which triggers worrisome “trust issues”. Was the relationship doomed from the very beginning because of the place where it started? Is he looking for love in the all the proverbial wrong places? What makes a guy firing up a hookup app when he’s already in the early stages of dating someone? We don’t have all the answers but we’re sure our beloved QC fans have many takes on this story!

Hi Queerclick, maybe a question to the community too.

For the past 10 years, I have struggled trying to date someone ever since I was 15. It seems like I tried using Grindr, which unfortunately ends up with superficial people and when I actually find a genuine guy, they end up ending things too quick.

Currently I’m trying to date this guy who was super cool, we talked, hung out. Now he tells me he’s busy and doesn’t know he should date. Unfortunately I can notice when he’s on grindr constantly and online when he pops up on my grindr, making me having doubts and trust issues.

So my question is, what should I do? Confront him? Give up on him and ignore him and just move on? I am not sure the best plan of action.
