After being recently severed, Gage P starts his first day at Cumon Industries as a “innie,” being led by his boss Eddie P through the enigmatic realm of macrodata refining. Deprived of his personal recollections, Gage is thrown into the company’s strict procedures and its more active approach to team building.

Gage discovers that obedience is not only welcomed at Cumon but is one of the company’s basic principles when Eddie recites the founder Kier Eagan’s instructions.
