Soft Cell, the 80’s synth-pop duo of Marc Almond and David Ball, had this amazing hit with Tainted Love, surprisingly, not written by them — it was a cover version. Originally recorded in the 60’s by Gloria Jones, she had a minor hit with it on the Northern Soul dance scene. But Soft Cell certainly made it their own — unique, electronic, camp, cabaret-style — as far as 80’s music videos go, this one is up there… mind-blowingly tacky/cheesy; what the heck is going on and what were they on?
