The Christmas and New Years parties may be over, but we know the best cure for those post party blues — dance your ass off to some classic ’80’s tunes! The late Pete Burns and band Dead or Alive created this glittery tune by bringing the underground gay club Hi-NRG sound to the mainstream. With the help of talented producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman, this was their first number 1 hit and can best be defined as techno-disco – amazing to think that this production team went on to create over 100 top 40 hits for so many other artists too. Keep on dancing!

Catch gay musical legend Holly Johnson in this interview on Jake Shears series, ‘Queer the Music’. Holly shot to fame in the mid ’80’s with the band Frankie Goes to Hollywood when their first single ‘Relax’, topped the charts. Initially banned by the BBC as too explicit, this caused even more people to want to listen to this overtly gay sexual dance track. In the same year they had two further number one hits with ‘Two Tribes’ and ‘The Power of Love’ — the subject for this weeks episode.

Be enchanted watching these two young male students from MAS Music, Arts & Show dance to “Masquerade”, a concept project based on the music of Peter Gundry and filmed at the Museo Circolante Casartelli in Como, Italy. The music is particularly dark with rich emotions, and the choreography allows an ambiguity in the interpretation of the gestures and the atmosphere. Based in Milan, MAS Music, Arts & Show have their own YouTube channel and these amazingly talented dancers are Francesco Brumat and Christian Ayrton Riga.
