When a Relationship Ends Before You’re Ready to Let Go
Noel Alejandro‘s new film doesn’t open with a dramatic confrontation or a slammed door. It opens in bed – with two men, a quiet moment, and something glimpsed in a mirror that shouldn’t be there.
‘The Mirror’ is the latest work from the Spanish filmmaker – based in Berlin – where he runs his independent studio ‘Bedtime Stories’.
In just over 30 minutes, it traces the emotional wreckage of a breakup through desire, memory, and a touch of the uncanny – using explicit sexuality not as spectacle, but as a language for grief.
A part of the ‘Bedtime Stories’ anthology, ‘After Cherries’ tells a story of two people with contrasting ideologies but ultimately reconnect as they set their conflict aside.
Noel Alejandro‘s new film is “Under the Rain” takes you to a surrealist journey of intimate visuals and hauntingly beautiful aesthetics. Sex on films have never been shot this alluring. The filmmaker himself talked to us about this thought-provoking erotica. See more after the jump!

Noel Alejandro‘s mind is undeniably prolific when it comes to creating his own take on transforming big-time sensuality into screen gems. A more depth visualization which is a contrast to mainstream gay pornography is how this young artist effortlessly steps the game up. Films are created to make us feel something. The amusing fragments of Noel’s philosophy on filmmaking are clearly embedded on his works. His films, though concludingly built and culminated from sexual foundations, make us feel something but in a more profound way. It’s an effective story-telling device that perfectly captures the sexual tension between characters.

Noel Alejandro an independent director who has produced adult productions in Brussels and Barcelona has graciously agreed to sit with us to have a conversation on his unique approach on film making. Noel is driven by his passion to make gay erotica in a natural and impressionistic way. Or as he eloquently puts it, “porn that’d go beyond porn itself”. That love for this form of art is perfectly captured in his super successful short “Hairy” (which has been watched more than 1 million times!) and more recently in “Doing Elliot” an indie darling starring a real-life couple.
“Dramatic cinema inspires me, artistic expressions inspire me. I go to museums, concerts and exhibitions weekly to keep myself constantly inspired (…) I confess I also try to add some surrealism in my short movies, like Luis Buñuel used to do.” Noel Alejandro, Adult Film director
