Dear QueerClick
EDITOR'S NOTE: From time to time, we receive interesting emails. Last week, our reader "Hillbilly" commented on our use of the word, "jizz." While we respectfully disagreed with his opinion on language, we welcome diversity of thought and are thus publishing his email, below. We welcome your comments on this post, but please, as always, keep it respectful.
Dear Queerclick Staff Editors:
A few days ago I responded to your comment section on one of your presentations (link). That comment was published as follows:
2 hillbilly on June 10, 2007 3:08 AMI like your site; but when you use "jizz", which refers to birds, instead of "jism", which is man's seaman; it makes me feel like a "pussey" has popped up where a cock should be.
EDITORS: Thanks for your comment and your opinion, but we disagree. If you Google "jizz" you'll get quite a few sites referring to "jizz" as cum.
I use the moniker of "hillbilly" with some accuracy because I am well past 80 years and was born in a log cabin in that part of our country commonly referred to as Hillbilly land. I used some sound a likes ( pussey and seaman). All this to demonstrate what the use of words can do in this human world. "Pussey" is the name of a circulating cartoon character, "Dan Pussey". Seaman, of course, is a sailor. I fully expected lots of follow up comments from other viewers in the days to come after; but, aside from your working editor at the time; there was only Matt's.
4 Matt on June 10, 2007 6:42 PMHillbilly, you really lived up to your name.
1. Jizz is totally a man's cum.
2. A man's cum is totally a man's SEMEN (you were talking about men in cute uniforms).
3. You were worried a PUSSY popped up where a cock should be....and no, I don't understand what that means.
Matt's comments, I am sure, can be categorized as at least "hostile".
I also made a second follow up comment thereto; which apparently go edited to the floor by the then working editor. That comment pointed out that the current dictionary definitions of: "jizz" was referring to birds; and that of "jism" was male semen.
Whilst I know that most of the words used around human sexual activities are considered "vulgar"; they are nevertheless standardized in English dictionaries; especially the Oxford (the bible of dictionaries). Well for many, many years the standard for semen has been "cum" or "jism". And let us remember women also "cum". Because of my age; I can avow to long years of these two words common and standardized usage..
Now then, I am aware that there are many and many "gay" internet sites. I have noticed that all of them seem to be promoting factual and positive information about this so called "alternative lifestyle". Although, I believe that there is just "human sexuality"; both men and women participate in "oral" and "anal" pleasures. Clinically there maybe some physical differences only. Among all the above mentioned internet sites, I thought that yours was probably the premier one because you have "Doc Feel", galleries, fiction, and actual client participations with real responses. And as "the Hub" in these activities; I thought that you would want to be real and use standardized words in wanting to make a positive reporting which is the primary desire of all reporters. I fear that many of the "gays" now using the internet are creating a new word which can now join the many other "gay bashing" words like: queer, faggot, etc. That might be "jizz sucker" instead of cock sucker (already standardized). I just do not think that we need another word in this already hostile world where there is eleven wars being fought presently; people are hostile over the North and the South in this country; there are race hostilities; and etc.
There are plenty of hostile activities trying to separate "gay" and "straight" in this world being reported (link); and I do not think that there needs to be another piece of fuel added to this world.
I believe that my little demonstration with commenting in one case should reveal to you that words can make a difference. Please be a party to making this world a better place to live for all.
Thanks for reading.
Hillbilly

huh?
What some people can get worked up over..anyway:
Jizz (disambiguation)
Jizz can mean:
A shortening of jism, a slang term for semen
Jizz (birding), immediately recognisable characteristics of a bird
"The characteristic impression given by an animal or plant" (Concise Oxford Dictionary)
A genre of music in the Star Wars fictional universe; the Max Rebo Band is the most popular one playing this genre
from answers.com
Jizz is a slang word.
huh?...and what are these old people (over 80 years old!) still surfing the net for porn! A couple of days ago, QC publish a querism word "grannyporn" and there's this very hostile comment from an elderly...I never thought Queerclick has a massive granny following.
Okay, while we're at it. Is it blowjob or blow job? Hardon or hard on? Dickhead or dick head? Inquiring minds (in this case, a writer) want to know.
hillbilly (a.k.a. Nell) - lay off the bathtub gin.
I don't get it? Is he being serious? Not all slang words make it to the dictionary. Try the Urban Dictionary: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=jizz
I'm 50 years old, and I've never heard "jizz" used in any way other than meaning a hot dude's cum. Sperm. Yogurt (LOL!). Boyjuice. Spunk.
Furthermore, after Googling "jizz" and "bird", it looks to me like birdwatchers have taken the word "gist" (pronounced like "jist"), and slanged it to "jizz". In other words, "I've got the jizz of this bird." "I've got a pretty decent idea what kind of bird we're lookin' at here, Chester!"
I believe our hillbilly friend is making 'way too much of nothing. The world will not change in any appreciable way, if we stop using the term "jizz" to mean "sperm".
Dear QC,
Please don't publish any more asinine comments from old people who have nothing better to do than submit their petty quibbles to porno sites.
You guys rock btw!
EDITOR: Thanks Tony! =)
While I don't agree with his opinion, it is something new that I haven't heard before. The ideas espoused in this post remind me of another one from a while back about the word "queer" which made valid points but which I also disagreed with.
The thing I find most telling about this post are the reader comments which validate one of hillbilly's points about increasing hostility are the attacks on the commenter for his age. This is just more evidence of members of the gay community and society as a whole having increasingly ageist attitudes such as "old people have nothing better to do."
Discussions about language and its usage are important, because it's the only way we can communicate our thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and values. Please don't cheapen the discourse with personal attacks that only reveal your own prejudice.
Thanks QC for providing a forum for these issues and especially for respecting dissenting opinions.
ha, jizz suckers - I like. Surly since the word Jizz is already slang for cum one site refraining from using he word isn't going to prevent this. And what difference is one more insult going to make? If people are gonna hurl abuse, they'll find another insulting term and do it anyway regardless. The people that are smallminded enough to do that aren't intelligent enough to make the leap from cock sucker to jizz extractor (my tke on your words)
OMG! LMAO! Sorry, I can't help but laugh because I was scrolling through good ol' queerclick and all of a sudden I go "hey...I WROTE THAT!" hahahahahaha. I can't believe someone actually wrote a letter about me. I'm kind of flattered, but honestly dude, is it that big of a deal? I'm sorry about sounding hostile; I was just reflecting on the pointlessness of commenting about some of the stuff you mentioned on a porn blog hahaha....and so therefore I felt the need to do the same just for fun! Yay for fun! And jizz!
Language is what allows societies/communities to exist. Trying to protect it is an honorable endeavor. Here are some folks that are very dedicated to that end. http://www.time-binding.org/ I think it is all quite interesting. I am amazed at the response this person got and how it was so directed at age...
If people were more responsible of their words, we wouldn't all have to walk around in so much Bull$#!t...
From Roget's New Millennium Thesaurus:
"Synonyms: backwoodsman, boor*, bumpkin, bush leaguer, clodhopper, clown, country boy, country bumpkin, country cousin*, countryman, galoot, hayseed*, hick, hillbilly, jake, peasant, rube, rustic, wahoo, yahoo"
So a country bumpkin hick clown speaks his mind...and we should give it serious consideration, why exactly? This isn't hostility to octogenarians; rather, it is dismissal of inanity by a self-proclaimed buffoon.
And, yes, QueerClick certainly does rock!!! :-D
