UPDATE: Mason Wyler Beaten And Raped
NOTE: WHAT FOLLOWS MAY BE DISTURBING TO SOME READERS. This is not a fetish post nor is it a joke. QC editors will not tolerate any hateful or insensitive comments on this post and will continue to report as the story develops.
According to his personal and MySpace blogs, popular porn star, Mason Wyler, was the victim of a brutal assault and rape this past weekend. Mason's account of the attack (available after the jump) says that he was held down with belts, duct tape and power cords, strangled, suffocated, held at gun point, drugged, pissed on, inseminated, and forcefully penetrated with a broomstick.
Only a few other gay blogs have commented on this story just yet. According to The Gays of Daytime, "A couple of weeks ago, Wyler had posted what has been described as a 'rape fantasy' on his blog, which has led some to question the validity of his current entries. However, Wyler has posted some photos on his blog, apparently taken after the attack, which seem to indicate that there was no fantasy involved this time... there are people out there who think that because Mason is an aggressive power bottom in his movies and has stated himself that he's somewhat of a 'whore', he has deserved this or even asked for it. Rape is a serious crime and no matter the choices in your personal and professional life, there is nothing you can do that makes you 'deserve' it."
No major news outlet has yet covered the story, possibly because of an ongoing investigation or the extreme nature of it's content. But we believe the situation, no matter the emerging or uncertain details, deserves coverage. Mason has been on our site many times and we stand among his many supporters. Rape, especially among men is a reality that often gets written off as something that only happens in prisons or the occasional fraternity. It takes a great deal of courage to speak out as a victim. Open, honest coverage followed by a thoughtful discussion humanizes porn stars, sexual minorities, and rape victims and can lead to more public discourse, criminal prosecution, and possibly even community action. No matter the circumstances, he did not deserve this.

UPDATE 10/8: After Mr. Wyler posted a police report on his website, QueerClick attempted to get in contact with Mr. Wyler for his side of the story. We were unable to, so we posted an update with evidence that the police report was forged.
We have taken that update down after speaking with Mr. Wyler via telephone. In our conversation with him, Mr. Wyler told QueerClick he faked certain aspects of his story, including the police report posted on his website, to protect other parties involved in the incident.
Mr. Wyler provided his proper case number, his legal name and the full details around the incident. QueerClick is attempting to verify Mr. Wyler's story with the proper authorities and will update this post again when we are able to.
From our conversations with him, we understand why he faked certain information, however we do not believe he did so in his best interest. If he is going to be only telling partial truths, and partial fabrications, and then only reveal a bit more each time someone catches a discrepancy, then that is not full disclosure, or being truthful. We wish he would have given very little information in the first place—all of this wouldn't have been an issue.
We wish Mr. Wyler a full recovery. We want to see him get back to making porn very soon.
UPDATE 10/8: We're closing the book on this post. There's so much disinformation on the internet right now that it's impossible to know what is truth and what is not. Mr. Wyler has provided QC with the alleged correct police report, but that report doesn't have his name nor date of birth, so we can't verify the authenticity. We'll let you chose what you believe.

UPDATE 10/9: This story won't die. Mason Wyler has asked us to call the police department to verify the incident report. The police department records office will not divulge information on the case and directed us to call the investigating detective. We were able to reach the investigating officer's voicemail, but haven't received a callback.

raped and tortured him with fellow soldiers.HOUSTON, Texas - Houston Police arrested a 28-year old Army Captain Sunday in connection with a West Houston home invasion from a previous night during which the intruders allegedly raped a man at gunpoint.
Danny Vanarro (not his real name), an Army Captain who served in Iraq, was charged with home invasion, robbery with a firearm, and sexual battery by multiple perpetrators, the Harris County Sheriff's Office reported.
According to a police statement the victim, aged 24, is a sex worker in the gay porn industry known as Mason Wyler. The statement reports that Wyler lost his wallet the night before at a local bar which was eventually found and returned by the Army Captain.
Upon entry of the victim's residence, Vanarro asked Wyler for the reward that was advertised Wyler's MySpace online page. Wyler then gave Vanarro a kiss on the mouth. The accused immediately grabbed Wyler by the neck, dragged him into the kitchen, and demanded money for the return of the wallet. Wyler told the aggressor that he didn't have any cash on him but would go to an ATM and withdraw some. Vanarro became agitated by his response and punched Wyler in the face, knocking him unconscious for a few moments.Thats when Vanarro pulled out a M9 Pistol and reportedly threatened Wyler's life. The accused then began punching and kicking the victim while he was crying on the ground, police said.
The adult film star was also forced to take off all his clothes and perform oral sex on the Army Captain. Eventually Wyler was immobilized, gagged, and blindfolded with belts and duct tape. Through out the whole ordeal Vanarro supposedly sodomized the victim repeatedly with a broom stick, anally and orally raped the victim while strangling him with a power cord, made the 24-year old drink urine, and brutally beat him.
Wyler also claims that Vanarro inserted the illicit drug GHB into the victims anus to subdue him which left his memory of the incident hazy. The drug test came back positive.
After a few hours Vanarro made a call to invite over some accomplices. AT&T wireless is working with the Harris County Sheriff's office to retrieve Vanarro's call records for the night.
Wyler was then taken into the bedroom, where he was sexually assaulted by at least two other attackers. There identities are still unknown.
After the rapes, the alleged perpetrators went into the bathroom to shower while the victim managed to untie himself and escape to a nearby home, where the occupants called 911. The accused were able to get away before police arrived on the scene but ironically investigators found that Vanarro had left his own wallet behind.
Wyler was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, where a sexual assault exam was performed. His clothing was collected and was processed at the Sheriff's Office DNA lab.
The Sheriff's Office sent the material for DNA tests to the Houston PD Crime Lab.
DNA test results from the semen samples collected from the inside of Wyler's anal canal and rectum confirmed that there were at least three different assailants although most of the genetic fluid was from Vanarro.
After results came back with a match for Vanarro, a judge ordered that he be detained at the Harris County Jail with bail set at $15,000.
"There's a good chance he'll be charged as a civilian because the nature of the crime warrants consideration to be charged as a civilian," Chief Assistant State Attorney Jason Ashberry said.
"The case won't be about proving that Mr. Vanarro had anal intercourse with Mr. Wyler, the DNA tests speak for themselves, the case will ultimately be about whether or not it was consensual sex or rape", he added.
Vanarro, if convicted, is facing a mandatory 10-year sentence and up to life in prison.
Captain Danny Vanarro hasn't answered any questions from reporters and only had this to say, "He was begging for it."

Rape Reality Part 2: The Truth
The truth is I did get raped by a guy who claimed to be a Captain in the U.S. Army. And the truth is I did invite him into my home. He was attractive and he looked normal. I guess thats incredibly stupid of me to judge someones character based solely on appearances. But I trust people on day one until they lose it instead of making people earn my trust. We had a bit of small talk, he told me that he was gay, and that he had seen some of my work and kept up with my myspace page. In a joking manner he asked for his reward for finding my wallet and I did come on to him. I kissed him and he kissed me back. But within a few short moments things quickly turned ugly. All the sexual abuses that I listed in my faux news report truthfully happened to me.
Truthfully for the first few hours of the attack I fought back and I fought back hard, I assume that since he was a big strong army guy that he thought it was going to be easy to over power me and get me under control, but I sure as hell surprised him. When he pulled out the gun it scared me shitless and I stopped fighting for a few a bit but then I figured I really was going to die and if that were the case then I'd rather go out fighting instead of being some blubbering victim.
So I started to struggle against him once more. I seriously bit a chunk of flesh out of his upper chest trying to wrestle him off of me, I also tried gouging his eyes out but every attempt I made to break free from him failed.
I was beaten and strangled to the point that I passed out numerous times during the night, each time I came to he was either fucking me or tying me up with whatever he could find. I ended up getting my wrists and ankles tied behind my back, and attached to a belt that was wrapped around my neck so that if I struggled I would end up just strangling myself.
I was screaming for help so loud that he ended up not only blindfolding me but taping my mouth shut. I almost had a helmet of duct tape covering my face and at one point I thought I was going to suffocate to death. When he noticed that I couldn't breath, he took the tape off of my nose, maybe he just wanted me to be alive and in pain while he raped me, I don't know.
Through out the night he kept telling me what some of you have told me, that I wanted it and deserved it for being a whore. The truth is he almost pushed me into believing it. I mean if he had contacted me before coming over, sent me his pictures and told me he wanted to fuck me, instead of being the one who found my wallet, I probably would of invited him over just to get his dick in me. Either way I still would have probably been beaten and raped. But thinking like that made me feel as though I deserved it.
The truth is, I'll admit, that my mind is pretty fucked up. I'll admit that I my sexual promiscuity has put myself at risk countless times and until the other night I have been pretty lucky. I'll admit that I am a slut who has some pretty sick fantasies at times BUT this twisted fantasy was always meant to be just that, a fantasy, I never wanted it to become a reality. Just because someone is a slut who talks dirty doesn't give anyone the right to abuse that person.
The truth is that the rapist did call over some friends to use me once he had gotten his fill of me. By then the drugs (which I was unaware that he had injected me with at the time) had already taken affect and I was much more subdued and mellow. My muscles started to go limp, including my ass, which the gang of murderers and rapists interpreted as me wanting more cock up my hole. If I could of shit on them I would of.
The truth is that they did shower and leave as I escaped. My first instinct was to yell at my neighbors because I know they were home and I KNOW they could hear me screaming for help through the walls. AND YET LIKE MOST FUCKING AMERICANS, THEY DID NOTHING. Some people are so afraid to get involved in other peoples lives when they need it most. You always read those horror stories of kids getting raped in apartment complexes where the neighbors hear it but don't call the cops.. then act all shocked when they find out exactly what was going on... I was sickened to hear that and ENRAGED when it happened to me.
The truth is I did call the police after I escaped. Six of them showed up, Four of them were ex-military, and all of them were assholes. The FIRST thing they asked was, "Have you been doing any illegal substances or drinking?" and keep in mind they knew why they were called over.
I said no.
My blood was pumping, mind racing,I was going nuts, and I had no idea that the guy had squirted GHB into my asshole. I just thought he wanted to get my insides wet, hell he shoved ice cubes up in me. I think the bastard just got off seeing me squirm in pain. As hard as it is for some of you to believe, I have NEVER done any drugs other than marijuana, which I don't consider a drug anyway. So I didn't know that the effects I was feeling was from a drug and not from getting knocked around and choked so many times.
They took my answer with a grain of salt.
I wrote the article because its the way my case should of been handled when the police arrived, the way I wish it was handled. They should done an initial thorough search and found certain items that I found later. They shouldn't have laughed at, They should of taken this accusation seriously and involved people with more power. Instead I was treated with a great deal of skepticism much like some of the posters have treated me. Right from the start I felt like I was the one who committed the crime. They all had looks of doubt. "Come on, you love sex...and with a guy in the military, thats like a dream come true for you, just admit it you sick fagot and stop wasting our time", is what I'm sure they were thinking.
I'm not your average joe in terms of personality, I can't shut up under normal circumstances and last night I couldn't stop talking for the life of me, it might have been the drugs that were forced into my body or it might have been the sudden adrenaline rush I was feeling after I escaped, but either way I couldn't shut up, which led the cops to believe I was just a cracked out fagot that wanted it and was just freaking out.
Like some of you have said, rape victims have a hard time talking about their situation with loved ones and friends, let alone a public forum BUT FUCK THAT. I want everyone out there to know that there are some sick fucks in all types of uniforms and to be cautious. I told my neighbors, the cops, my friends, my mother, my brother, the nurses at the hospital, the lady at the front desk that asked what happened, and any body else who stared at my fucked up face. Screw being ashamed and quiet about it. I was kind of proud that I gave a guy who was almost 6'2" and probably 220 lbs a pretty good fight. AND yes I know thats pretty fucked up that a slut who just got raped is proud and I'm sure the cops were thinking the same thing.
It probably didn't help that I had copies of my porn laying all over the house when they came in to collect evidence. And it probably didn't help that I didn't follow their orders to just sit down and not to walk around to keep me from smudging any finger prints the rapist may have left behind. And I sure as hell didn't help when I made a whole bunch of nasty comments about people in the armed forces, I was pissed off and couldn't help it. SERIOUSLY, I didn't know there was a certain way you're suppose to act after you get raped. Do they offer a rape victims etiquette class? I should probably take it. I'm surprised there aren't more insane crazy rape victims out there, because I'm seriously about to go off my rocker!
The cops were serious assholes though, while two of the investigators were busy finger printing my whole house, the other four were holding me hostage in my living room. "JUST SIT THERE SIR, WE DON'T WANT YOU CONTAMINATING EVIDENCE", one pig oinked. "Uh. I need to take a piss", I said. "Well they haven't collected evidence from the bathroom yet and you might have some of their DNA on you so you probably shouldn't do anything until we get to the hospital", the asshole in blue said. I seriously wanted to yell, "THE DNA IS IN MY ASSHOLE YOU FUCKING PIG!" But I was at least able to keep that to myself.
I kept asking them, "I'm sure you will get a DNA match after my exam, why on earth do you need to take all my stuff?" to which they replied "We just just have to"... "We just have to?" thats not a very good reason. On top of that they things that had nothing to do with the case, like my main computer, my cell phone, and my clothes, the clothes that I had on when the guy came over and just random clothes on the floor. One pig told me that once the stuff becomes evidence, I'd probably never get them back, and the stupid fucking piece of shit chuckled, like it was funny.
Two of the cops were talking about rough sex with their wives and how they have to pin them down... not saying they're rapists.. just saying that talking about rough sex at a rape scene.... WOW... seriously?
After they collected my statement and "evidence" they took me to the shittiest hospital in a city that has the worlds best medical center... where I got to wait, then wait some more, and wait some more. Then finally after 5 hours of waiting along side hobo's, hookers, and heroine addicts I was finally put in a room where I got wait another hour for a fucking rape kit, a medical exam that took about 15 minutes to complete. And just to put icing on the cake was handed a medical bill for the exam, $100. LOVELY.
The police then took me to give my statement to a detective, a bitch detective that kept questioning whether or not it was consensual and if I was SURE about pressing charges. She kept saying it won't be a matter of proving he was at your place, just a matter of proving it was rape. When they were finally done belittling me they handed me a card with a case number on the back, "Call if you want to press charges", they said - the number on the front was the number for the traffic violations office. WOW THEY REALLY DO CARE.
When I finally got home I found my walls, carpet, and furniture covered in black finger print dust not to mention the drops of blood spattered across the floor. Not one of the drops of the blood looked as if they had been swabbed for samples... something I thought the police would want to match with the DNA taken from my hole. And upon further investigation I found something even more startling... the tape and papers used to collect finger prints.. all of it containing the assholes finger prints were crumpled up and thrown into my trash can. I also found the fuckers wallet.
For those of you who seem to be genuinely worried about me, don't be, I'll be fine, I was already pretty messed up before this so maybe this will make me less of a stupid slut. Maybe this will get me to quit doing porn and try incredibly hard at a normal lifestyle.
I checked myself into a hotel room because I couldn't stand to be in that house alone. It wreaked of sweat, piss, and rapist cum. I have been sitting here ever since, playing the events over and over in my head, thinking about what he did to me, trying to figure out what I should do about it, planning my revenge, and then I wrote that article. Like I said earlier, the report was written by me but the crime reported in it is fact. The only things that aren't fact are the names and what the police did and said. It was only how I wished the police department would of handled it.
The truth is, no he hasn't been arrested because the police don't know who he is. I didn't hand his wallet in to the police, and I don't think I will. I just don't see them helping me. And no, I'm not sure I want to press charges because I don't think I can win the case. I don't want my whole private sex life to be dragged out in court and in front of my family. I'd rather get revenge and let that be my justice. I just need to find out who the other guys were.
I'm done trying to prove that I'm telling the truth, if you don't believe me then FUCK you and quit reading my blog. LIKE RIGHT NOW. JUST CLICK THE X. I usually welcome people's criticisms and differing opinions.. but this isn't about your opinion... its about my health and well-being. I WRITE BECAUSE IT MAKES ME FEEL BETTER. Your attitude about it is inspiration to people suffering from rape. That asshole will soon know how it feel in prison, where others like him will pass him around like a hi-five at a cheer leader's camp. My word wouldn't have been so nice.
Just askin'....exactly why did Mason post the out-and-out lies about someone being arrested, charged and quoted in Blog #1. Then turn around and declare he has the guy's wallet (sounds shady, in all honesty), never gave it to police, and wants to take personal revenge once he "figures out" who the other assailants were. I'm not trying to be insensitive, but if this is a made-up story in any way, Mason will have done more harm than he ever realizes.
Wow!!! I just finished reading your blog & Am outraged at what happened to. In (NO WAY) ever is someone asking for what occured to you on that day. My heart goes out to you & the pain you suffered by the hands of such creul men. I find you very brave for sharing your story with with your readers. I can only hope for some piece of mind for you & that those men are made to pay for what they have done to your life!!!

I am so sorry man. It seems the issue of male rape is almost never taken seriously because men are supposed to like sex. You are correct: your fantasy was always intended to remain a fantasy. I'm not sure what else to say other than be well and heal up.
Perhaps a daily personal inventory might be in order as you continue to evolve and develop in your human experience. It is always good to know exactly where you stand at any given moment and making adjustments is always on tap. You were fortunate to survive this.

Thats really sad and shocking, rape is an awful thing and male rape often goes unreported by its victims due to the prejudice and taboo on this subject. Rape of any gender is more than just physical and sexual abuse, those who are responsible for this assault should be brought to justice - it takes a brave survivor to be able to tell the world what has happened to them. Mason, sharing your story will help those victims too, and thank you QC for reporting this unfortunate event in such a sensitive and balanced way.

I'm sorry, but this is bull-shit. It doesn't matter if the news hasn't reported this "story." Is there a Houston police report to corroborate this? Enough time has passed that there now should be. And since it's a rape, names won't be used, but there still should be something in that report that should match up like age, description of the rapist, the fact that it was male-male, etc.
Moreover, Mason's description of how the cops behaved is abnormal to say the least. Two of the cops were talking about rough sex? Not only is that a serious accusation, that would get the cops fired if true (it's not). In this situation Mason has a moral obligation to get an attorney (he won't).
Furthermore, there are A LOT of problems with this story. I'll just name one that hasn't been mentioned already: medical exam and rape kit cost. Texas has a fund to cover the cost of those. Mason would not have had to pay that. The rapist, if caught, will be "billed," but never the victim. I bet he got this idea from all the recent blog chatter about Gov. Palin supposedly making rape victims pay the cost of rape kits.
Finally, my sister was raped in 1998. The process was altogether different than what Mason went through. The last thing she wanted was to advertise her experience. It was far too painful for that. It was hard enough just talking to the police.
I'll believe this when there is a police report and the media cover it but as things stand, it's either embellished or patently false.

i think a lot of people have a hard time believing his story due to the fact that he has been rather desperate for attention and constantly fishes for compliments and money in his blogs. the injuries definitely look real, but some of the "facts" from his story don't really make sense.
On Mason's Myspace page he has a "hospital" photo taken some time ago where he is lying in the EXACT same hospital bed and wearing the EXACT same hospital gown as in his "rape" photo. The pillow is even in the same place. Add Photoshop, viola. Sad.
EDITORS: As of this evening, Mr. Wyler has removed the photos from his Myspace profile, so we have no way of verifying this information.
I really think this whole story is just a bit off... Something isn't right, and a lot of the story doesn't add up. I really hope that this isn't a lot of fabrication.
I am flabergasted! I currently have no words appropriate enough to express my horror (at the event), anger (at the assailants) and compassion (for Mason). Hang in there buddy and make sure you get therapy. You're are gonna need it in order to resume a normal life. And if you want justice the best thing to do is to get the media involved. They certainly love to pick on the do-nothing bias and homophobic cops also ... Be Well my friend!
I'm having trouble believing this story. How come there are no other reports of it, except for on his blog (and why would he broadcast something like this supposedly happening to him?) and porn blogs like this that basically reposted what he did? If it did actually happen, it seems he's basically exploiting it for publicity. Something doesn't sound right here.

As a television news reporter, I looked into this and couldn't find any arrest or incident reports from Houston Police. Also, keep in mind, the first blog entry -- written to appear as an actual news story, complete with quotes -- was written by Wyler himself. Why would Wyler write a "news story" about the incident, and not a personal account of what happened. (Blog entry #1 and blog #2 are so different. Does Wyler want us to believe what he wrote was an actual news report? Also, where did he get the quotes he used from officials?) I'm not calling Wyler a liar, but I find it odd there's no information available on this to the media, as there is any other rape report via public information logs. I also question the way Wyler is handling this. If this story is true, it's horrible. If it's a fabrication, that's even worse.

In ANY case of Rape, you take the victim's word for it until you have a reason not to and evidence to support it. desidude, get your eyes checked. that's not the same pic. In the pic on Mason's blog, the bed is tilted up and he appears to be in a near upright angle. Additionally, he is looking away from the camera and the pic is taken at a direct angle. In the pic you referenced he is in a reclined position looking at the camera with an aerial angle. I don't understand certain individuals need to brutally and cruelly continue to dissect his story. I don't believe a lot of people would lie about something this serious nor have pics to back it up.

Oh poor guy. My best to him. Ive been in the same situation but in Mexico while on vacation and not badly as hurt as he was but still bad. Same shit the police out there are far worse and to this day I have not told my parents or family about it. There's something very odd about this account....I'm afraid I don't believe it. In photo 1, how come the tissue around his eye is reddened, but not at all swollen?! His eye isn't puffy, bloodshot, or shut - it looks exactly the same as the other one. I find this rather suspicious.
Journalistic integrity compels me to question the plausibility of events as described by Mr. Wyler, particularly as relates to his description of the Police work following his rape.
From a procedural point of view, the chronology and priorities of the officers as described by Mr. Wyler are all very questionable, if not implausible.
I know of one print journalist already investigating so I won't go any further.

I'm inclined to believe the story at first blush, but I constantly say Ronald Reagan only said one brilliant thing in his entire life, and it was "trust, but verify". In my professional work (public health, and most of it with gay/bi men ) I have seen (too many) cases of rape and have to admit that sometimes the stories are disjointed, off, and have clues that would cofound a rational person. However, we all must remember that sometimes there's bad judgment.
Now, that being said, given my experience with sexual assaults, my experience with drugs (again, public health) and my experience with the military, there is something.....not quite right about this story. Someone's previous point is valid; by now there should be a police report, and I mean to find it (it's public record). Essentially posting this much about the story could impact the jury pool, and anyone's lawyer would have said "blogging about this on a social network site should be the absolute last thing you do" considering the number of cases that have been killed by someone posting (its now SOP to see if a defendant or victim blogs). The rape fantasies that are ALREADY on that blog (which some are almost as bad as what happened) will play into shaping character...aaaaand its Texas, and a soldier, so....
I'm going to keep researching about this. There's a critical piece completely absent in this story, and I can't (yet) put my finger on what it is.
The missing piece seems to be the change from sexual consension to aggressive rape. Beyond that the whole story is shocking and disturbing beyond words. In the end a man was victimized, beatin and rapped beyond consent. My heart goes out to Mason and anyone that has ever been rapped.

The question as to whether this was consensual sex or not would be one for a jury. But that really isn't the point here.
What most people here are questioning is whether Mr Wyler has made a complaint of rape to the police or not. It seems that he has not. That would tend to suggest the entirety of his published web account is highly questionable.
As someone has already suggested, the publication of so many details in a criminal case, before trial, would almost certainly prejudice a fair trial. My personal view is that this is a publicity stunt and a pretty low one at that. Should a police report appear, confirming that a criminal complaint has been made, I will take it all back, but I'm not holding my breath.
I hope Mason isn't telling the truth. I wouldn't want him to go through something like that. Mason is soo hot, & I'm sure he has a great personality.& Nobody believing you is worse than getting raped.

I think everyone can understand that the veracity of the facts as stated by Mason are unclear.
I just hope people understand that rape is often "confusing", "unclear" and "facts are questionable." It's a violent act and how one processes what is happening as the crime is happening vs. how you process it afterwards can be different. Rape is not just a physical assault; it has implications on your mental and emotional health as well.
I would like for us as a community to at least work from a place of support and understanding. Should we later find out anything that would indicate that the above account is untrue, then let us tackle it from there. But until we know otherwise, we should rally behind one of our own, who is clearly in pain, grieving and angry.

Until there is substantiating reason to believe otherwise, I'm taking his statements at face value.
OF COURSE there are going to be inconsistencies and questions. Anybody who has been beaten, drugged, raped, all of the above, or worse, is going to be terribly upset, terrified, confused and scared. To demand that his story pass the "smell test" immediately is downright foolish. After the evidence has been examined, the terror has subsided, and a clearer and more coherent account is available, then the "smell test" should be applied.
I speak from personal experience: in 1976 in El Paso, TX, I was abducted one night when leaving a bar, taken up into the mountains where I was stripped, repeatedly raped, beaten, and left (I guess) in a canyon to die. Somehow I made it up to the road where a kind soul took me to the nearest hospital. I had hoped that things had changed since then, but Mason's account of his treatment by police and hospital personnel is eerily reminiscent of what I went through.
There are two things that bother me: (1) Mason says "Maybe this will get me to quit doing porn and try incredibly hard at a normal lifestyle." That's raising all kinds of red flags about esteem and guilt issues. Get some counseling. (2) He also says "I'd rather get revenge and let that be my justice." Please don't do that, please don't lower yourself to their level.
Now is the time when you need your real friends (and professional help) the most. Don't isolate, that's dangerous. You don't get over something like this, you learn to live with it. But if you try to bury it or otherwise deny it, you've done nothing more than create a ticking time bomb.
Natrually, should this turn out to be false or inaccurate enough to be worthy of dismissal, I'll be one of many who will be angry. Until then, I'm going to try and be supportive.
This is horrifying! But what really distrubs me is the idea of Mason wanting "revenge". When I read the journalistic, third-person account, I was relieved that the police and the court system seemed to be doing a sensible, sober job prosecuting the monsters who did this to Mason. Imagine my stomach dropping when Mason blogged about what really happened and that he kept the guy's wallet, plotting his revenge. I'm deeply concerned that Mason will get killed opting for this path.
I've always thought of Mason as a beautiful man. Reading this account humanizes him to me...and makes him even more beautiful. If you feel that you ahve to quit porn to get your head on straight and make you follow a safer, healtheir path, then go do it, Mason. But please, try to rise above plans of revenge. Sure, you can't expect a victim to be in the right mind after a rape case but the fact remains that this story seems kind of fishy.
Not only does the police report have OBVIOUS and tell-tale signs of tampering, but the picture that is linked above shows Wyler not only with the same hairdo, but in the EXACT same hospital johnny. Perhaps it's a coincidence, perhaps not.
The least appropriate place to talk about being raped is a porn blog, but I suppose each person handles their self differently.

I can understand why he wanted to let the world know what happened to him but also protect some of those involved, of course it would have been better to have just said there were others involved and not name them. We can all be wise after the event, unless you have been the victim of rape other other violent crime its difficult to rationalize your thoughts or actions until you have recovered. Emotionally the shock can cause lashing out verbally and without considered thought, I have unfortunately been in a situation like this and can empathize with Mason and the disbelief of others. Part of the reason people do not report crimes such as rape are because of ridicule, embarrassment and fear of not being believed. It takes a brave person to admit to rape, most want to eradicate the experience and not have to relive it through the courts publicly. But thats the only way you can legally stop offenders repeating, so although its not too smart of Mason to only tell part of the story I can understand his reasons for doing so. It will all come out in the end anyway, so there will be little he can do to protect others identity, its a sad fact that he may be forced to drop the charges and the perpetrators get away free if that happens!

About all this nonsense about the police report not being available about this, you all should to realize that a report is not immediately made available. Typically it can take a week or more for the local police agency to have to complete it and ready for public access. So if this was something very recent, there will be no report yet.

When I first read about this, I wanted to believe his story, but it riddled with so many inconsistencies. With the recent revelation that he fabricated "certain parts" and the discovery of the fake police report, I feel we all have been emotionally manipulated.

My brother has been in the Houston Police for 8 years, and he said that he hasn't heard about this. I don't know if that has any weight either way.
If it's true, it's really sad and terrible - not because it happened to some pretty boy porn star, but because it happened at all. Rape is a crime of violence and control.
If it didn't happen, that' just as sad, maybe even moreso. If someone fabricated a story like this, they're mentally ill. There are certain aspects of the story that make an open-minded reader wonder how authentic the story is, and his past behaviour doesn't help his credibility. However, that being said, people who go through rape don't always act rationally.

Mason has always been starving for attention. Everyday when I log onto MySpace, Mason has posted bulletins -- numerous ones -- pleading, "Ready my blog," "What would you want to do to me," "Talk to me dirty," etc. I always found it pretty pathetic. I finally deleted him as a friend.
About a year ago, Mason wrote me on MySpace saying he thought I was attractive. He even gave me his phone number. We talked twice and texted a few times, but getting to know the real him broke every fantasy I had about him. He is anything but intelligent and completely self-absorbed.

I personally do not believe this rape story.
Its interesting that there are so many people with opinions on this quick to deride Mason whether all of the facts are true or not, it irks me that quite a few of them haven't even read the post or the updates correctly before they are throwing their comments in.
From what I have read, clearly right from the beginning when this story broke, QC took the impartial view and just reported the facts; there is a police report (albeit somewhat altered to protect identities) and no where did QC make any remark about troops or Iraq, again these were direct quotes from Mason's own blog.
Regardless of how much of this is true, one fact remains, gay men are the victims of rape and violent abuse daily and when they report it they are often ridiculed and not believed. If this had been a case of a women being raped (whether in the sex industry or not) the opinions and comments and reactions would likely be very different.
If its true its another sad case of male rape, yet again unbelieved but if its Mason seeking attention then he has serious mental problems. Personally from the information on his site its impossible to tell whats the truth, one thing if anything though is that he has highlighted male rape, an often taboo subject.

EDITOR: We don't believe that aspect of the story is true. It was in version 1 or 2 of the story, and Mason hasn't since discussed that he has the wallet, so it's probably best to believe this was fabricated early on.

EDITOR: As a reporter, I've also seen several incident reports filed with police departments, only to find out later, a rape never occurred. Unfortunately, some do this for attention. If there is a report, please find out the date it was filed. I would be interested in knowing if it was filed days ago, or AFTER all of this blew up on the internet. Also, did the investigators actually see Wyler with bruises and a black eye? They would tell you that.
I also find it humorous that Wyler is now admitting he mixed "fact with fiction," and finds that okay. I wonder if the people he quoted in his alleged "news story" actually made those statements? If not, Wyler could be sued, since the article was actually published on the internet without a disclaimer saying some of the information is fiction. I called another reporter-friend of mine in Dallas. He plans to call to verify the quotes.

Wyler says he fled to a nearby home "where the occupants called 911." 911 tapes are public record. Has anyone tried to verify a call was place or obtain a transcript? A simple called to the Dallas County Sheriff's Office would solve that.
I agree about the irresponsible reporting on the part of JUB. I understand JUB is not a legitimate news organization, but if you plan to report a tragic and brutal rape, you need to confirm that report before you run with it. I assume you were trying to beat the other gay blogs to the punch, but now you have egg on your face for reporting something that may not be true, and only fueling Mr. Wlyer's attention-getting stunt. News organizations work all day, even days, confirming information like this before it's posted, published, or broadcast. I hope JUB learns from this. Well, it's nice of you to point that out, but I'm the only one posting as TVBoy. I have two roommates, both gay, both also work in TV news, and both find humor in this as well. They use this computer as well, but if they are posting, have apparently done so under a different name... so I'm not so sure what the problem is.

I think the QC editor showing what multiple names people use on here is tactless. I myself use two names, but thats the point of these internet blog/ranting/posting sites. People do not feel comfortable using their real name.
So today someone might be steve, tomorrow they might be mike, the next day they might be brian, whatever.
My point is nobody should be using their real names, and frankly, if you use your real name on the internet, you are an idiot...just inviting someone to find you in real life and stalk you.

We all know people use nicknames here and how people like to protect their identity online, no problem with that. And we also realize that people are more likely to comment on something behind the anonymity of their computer screen.
But its an entirely different case to what these people are doing. Using multiple identities in the same comment thread and then pretending to be a different person who is then agreeing with the multiple identities, that are in fact just the same person. Now that's what I call misleading, dishonest and its far more responsible to bring this to your attention rather than let them continue to mislead you. Especially when these people are making claims regarding honesty, integrity and credibility.
At no point has it ever been suggested on QC that people should use their real name when posting comments, and QC hasn't exposed anyones real identity here. You do, though, make a good point that perhaps we should now introduce registering so that commenters can just use only one nickname just to keep it honest here, what do you think?

this is ridiculous. i live in houston and we have just gone through the devastation of hurricane ike. a lot of people are still reeling from that. i highly doubt that anyone will pull a stunt like this during this time. it's despicable that this sort of fabrication is being given attention. my mother works in icu at ben taub hospital and she would have mentioned something, especially with a case as unusual as male rape.

Whether this rape is the truth or not, it certainly highlights the dangers a lot of gay men face. How many of us have had sexual encounters with people who we really know little about and invited into our homes? It reminds me of the recent murder of Kevin Pravia, just an innocent young guy a little drunk on the way home from a party and ended up meeting a random guy who then tied him up and killed him. I feel total sympathy and compassion for genuine victims of rape and violence, its something I would never want to happen to anyone.

If you make people register with queerclick in-order to be permitted to post, people will find ways around it. I have access to many computers throughout the day, all with different IP addys. If someone really wants to, they can just create multiple accounts from different IP's. So thats kinda worthless.

Look. We don't know if this is all fact, part fact, or all fiction. The fact is that whether it's true of false he is obviously suffering. Whether it's from rape, depression, or mental illness is yet to be seen. two nights ago, when I first read this story, I thought it was real. and I really felt sorry and sadden.
Now, when I look at those photo again, I just think it's probably a fake story or a rough-sex-turn-sour-but-not-100%-rape.

1 black eyes doesn't look real. some people has pointed out there is no swellen or puff.
2 Mason mentioned in his story that rapist taped his mouth or nose area so hard that, at one point that he couldn't breathe. I couldn't see any bruises around his mouth or nose
3. the bruises on "his" neck or back were as bad as it should. remember that he was fighting for life with a 6'2'' military guy and that guy beat him.
4. no way can tell if the neck/back shot was Mason's
5. What make entire photo suspicious is that there is no single bruise on his butt or near butt. I guess that rapists strategically only whipped his back and treat his butt really gentle. hmmmm
I really wish I could believe him, faked certain things to protect whom the person who raped you???? And why would you put that wired Dapne and Juanita thing that really just makes no sense to me. If it is true I wish him the best but it just doesn't seem like the truth to me. And no matter what the "victim" does afterwards, you have to stick up for him? If he makes South Park jokes about it on his blog, you say, "Well, I'm glad you're dealing with it in your own way." If he admits he lied about part of the story, you say, "Well, when you're traumatized you do things like that." Etc. Thank God for Crick and Watson discovering DNA evidence, to prove those cases when men were falsely accused of rape.
