Active Duty’s David Speaks!

Remember David? He’s the Active Duty Marine who appeared in a Marine magazine for participating in a filmed re-enactment of the Battle of Belleau Wood? Unzipped got an exclusive interview with David and explains that, “David was not in the Marines when he worked for Active Duty, which makes the sensationalism surrounding his ‘outing’ [by gay blogs] seem foolish and exploitative in retrospect.”
You should check out the entire interview for yourself. It turns out that David’s actually gay, single (eh, boys?), and calls joining the military “the best decision of my life.” Here’s an excerpt where he talks about his stint doing porn and the aftermath since his cover was blown:

Did you consider working in adult while you were enlisted?/

No. I knew the risks and they were simply too great for me personally; which is why I waited till after the military to start.

Once you did start, did you worry about being found out?/

I made a conscious decision to begin work as an adult entertainer. I knew the risks involved, and I’m not asking for any sympathy. But there is a line that can be crossed between ones personal life and their work in the adult industry.

And some, including me, have said that you should have expected that your adult work would be “exposed,” seeing as it was publicly available. Do you agree?/

I agree that there was always that risk and that it was possibly an absolute that my adult work and personal life would collide, but I don’t see how perpetuating the exposition of someone’s private information for gain is ethical.

How have you been handling all this attention and criticism?/

I am trying to ignore the negative criticism, which I honestly thought would be easy. It’s not. It’s so surprising to me how one can be so affected by a complete stranger’s comments and criticisms. Many of the comments are so vindictive, they come across as personal attacks. Luckily, I have a strong support base of friends that care about me.

He ends the interview by saying, “I cannot say that I have any adult work on the horizon, but you certainly have not seen the last of me.” We’re not sure how he plans on continuing to make a splash outside of gay porn, but we’ll definitely be watching!
