Thank you so much for talking to us, Lucky! We’re huge fans and enjoy everything you do. But we’re curious about your stage name. Is there a story about how you came became to be known as Lucky Daniels?
The story of how I chose my name Lucky Daniels came to me while I was in LA shooting for Randy Blue. We hadn’t thought of a stage name for me before we began filming, and I didn’t realize that I was going to need a stage name either. So, I told Randy and the crew that my dog’s name is Lucky and my street name is Calhoun. Now Randy liked the name Lucky, but thought “Lucky Calhoun” sounded like a gay kids rodeo show or something. We were continuing to ponder still when I mentioned how much I was looking forward to grabbing a drink of vodka cran or Jack and Coke, and we were all thinking, Lucky Stoli, Lucky Jack, Lucky Daniels. . . And that’s how we came upon my stage name. So, in essence my stage name is my dog on Jack.
You mentioned that first movie, for people who don’t know, what was that first movie you did?
That first porn that I ever made was about 3 years ago, when I flew out to Los Angeles for the first time, and shot my solo video for Randy Blue. Otherwise, the first DVD that I made was “Best Men Part 2: The Wedding Party” for Falcon Studios.
What did you do before making porn movies?
I was in the Army National Guard, attending college and bartending.
How has your life changed since making these films?
My life has changed dramatically since I began making porn films. A summarized timeline of some of the highs and the lows includes: Me figuring out my sexuality and coming to terms with being a gay man; dating a guy for the first time; my entire family and most of my town where I grew up discovering that I do porn; the military finding out that I do porn and discharging me. Meeting the love of my life; getting engaged; moving to Los Angeles; and taking him to meet my family this past Christmas. Shooting for Playgirl Magazine twice—2009 Man of the Year Runner Up. A Cybersocket Awards nominee, signed to a print/commercial (mainstream) modeling agency and traveling all over the U.S., Canada and Europe. And all of this has happened in just 3 short years!
Do you enjoy watching your own scenes?
I do enjoy watching my own scenes after they’re done, but not to get off too, just to see the finished product and see where there are areas for improvement for future productions. Because my main goal as an adult performer is to create the best fantasies and experiences for the viewers of my movies.
That’s cool. You’re doing a good job at that! So, what scene are you most proud of… or at least, what do you think is the hottest to date?
I think that the hottest scene to date would have to be my scene with Benjamin Bradley in Channel 1 Releasing’s “Seize Your Bottom” because we shot the entire scene in a closet with about 6 mirrors everywhere and we were both dripping with sweat as Benjamin dominated me.

What’s the hardest part of making a porn movie?
The hardest part of making a porn movie would be staying at a high energy level throughout the entire filming process because some scenes take a long time to film and when you keep getting hard and/or have taken a viagra/cialis, it’s like a time crunch before you start to become tired and sometimes your head becomes flushed.
What was the biggest surprise that you maybe didn’t realize when you started making porn movies?
The biggest surprise was that people in the movies aren’t really lasting the entire movie straight through. I was always amazed when I was younger as to how much “lasting power,” or so it seemed, all the men had when in actuality it’s the editing room.
I am imagine there is a lot more travel in your life now. Do you like to travel?
I enjoy traveling, though with the new airline policies and continued checked luggage fees—who knows! But my favorite place to visit is by far New York City and Fire Island because there’s so much diversity and so much to do that it’s like a mini-United Nations within the U.S.
Yeah, New York City is great for that—I love a town with a diverse selection of guys!
Okay, I always like to ask guys about music. Who are you listening to right now?
My favorite music is a split between modern rock and country, and I’m currently listening to Lady Antebellum “Need You Now!”
Yeah, I am not a huge country fan, but I really like Lady Antebellum too.
Okay, so what’s your guilty pleasure? You know, something you love, but you probably shouldn’t?
One of my favorite things that I love to do, but know that I probably shouldn’t is eating Country Crock macaroni and cheese, but sometimes I’ll actually get 2 containers, (which are supposed to feed a family of 4 per container) and eat them all in one sitting.
Are you kidding me?! I am so jealous of your metabolism and workout routine! What else do you think fans would be surprised to learn about you?
I clean my apartment once a week with a deep cleaning, where I scrub the floors by hand, vacuum, scrub the toilet with a toothbrush, do laundry and wash dishes, and really make my apartment nice and clean.
Okay, Lucky. Who is your hero?
My parents. I look up to them because they raised my four brothers and me by instilling a great work ethic, creating a loving home, and eventually accepting me (not agreeing with) but accepting me without understanding the porn industry. They are such caring and giving people and I strive to be the classy and amazing person that they are.
What’s the last time you laughed so hard, you cried?
The last time I laughed so hard I cried was right before this past Christmas while I was at my BFF, Rob Romoni’s house. We were playing Connect Four that I had gotten him for Christmas and some of the ways that we were beating each other were making us relive our childhood, and we were dying of laughter.
Okay, for one thing Rob Romoni is hysterical. How much do we all love that sexy beast!? Which reminds me, is there anyone you’d love to do a scene with (especially a dream guy who isn’t even in porn)?
Well, if I could do a porn scene with anyone, I would have to pick Jakub Stefano hands-down, because he has an amazing body with a boyish charm.
Oh yeah, Jakub is hot! And the most tempting nipples of guy. I just want to bite them! So what are the qualities of a guy that turn you on?
Rugged, masculine men that are pretty fit with a great personality and intellect turn me on—all the qualities of my fiance!
Do you think it’s important to make a connection with a scene mate before shooting? Do you do anything with them beforehand to make a connection?
I think that its important to have everyone in my scenes getting along and being team players, but I don’t think that it’s a neccesity to make a connection with a scene mate before shooting, and I don’t do anything ahead of shooting with them besides maybe getting food or hanging out as a group.
What’s your favorite thing in the world to talk about besides porn/being in the industry/and sex?
My favorite thing in the world to talk about besides porn, being in the industry and sex is a toss up between books that I’ve read and NFL Fantasy Football.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In 5 years, I would like to have written my autobiographical motivational book about my experiences within the porn industry, have my life coach website established, where I’m creating a substantial amount of residual income, be married and have a house/condo in LA and just enjoying the pleasures that life has to offer.
