Porn Break: Perfume Genius’ Video “Hood” with Arpad Miklos

Arpad Miklos is certainly not the first porn star to appear in a music video (Let us not forget this weirdness), and quite honestly, the music in the video is pretty dang bad. However, we’re totally digging this song, “Hood” by Perfume Genius and absolutely love his partner in the video—Arpad Miklos! The song itself is about that feeling if someone really knew you, they would leave. Heavy stuff, but wonderfully balanced by this playful video.

Perfume Genius is Mike Hadreas, a Seattle songwriter whose jarring 2010 debut album, Learning, was called “an album of rare, redemptive beauty…one of the most uniquely endearing and quietly forceful debut albums of recent years” by Drowned In Sound, and established him as one of the most singular songwriters today. You can find this song “Hood” on his latest album entitled, Put Your Back N 2 It. Wonderfully touching and wonderfully queer!
