Rocco Reed Retires From Porn Industry?
Less than a year after Rocco Reed made the switch to gay porn, he has announced his retirement from the adult film industry. AVN made the announcement last Friday, immediately following the release of what might be Rocco’s last Men.com scene.
Before he became an adult film actor, Reed tried his hand at mainstream acting, and did a fairly hefty amount of work for HBO. He also did some runway modeling for clients like Structure, MEK, Armani, and Calvin Klein (who obviously has a thing for former porn actors). Maybe Rocco is announcing his retirement so that he can return to the runway? Obviously we’re secretly hoping that this is just a publicity stunt and we can see him bottom again and again and again. In his statement to AVN, Rocco explains that he has simply decided to pursue other business ventures:
“I would like to state that my time in the adult industry in every aspect has now come to an end,” Reed said. “I will no longer be living in the Los Angeles area and I’m taking the step to start other business ventures. I would also like to state that I am not or never have been gay, just an adult performer. I am retiring not because of any other reason than its time to move on. Thanks.”
The decision to leave LA is somewhat interesting, not because we’re shocked that anyone would ever choose to leave LA (duh), but because it suggests that this announcement signals an abrupt life change, rather than a slow transition. Perhaps we’re over-reading; we’re just extremely curious to know what drove him to quit his job/move away and also what his new “business ventures” are. MenofPorn has even gone so far as to suggest that Men.com might have been blindsided by this announcement. Even though the idea has pretty thoroughly been debunked, the announcement still has a vague air of suddenness to it.
Also, is a retirement announcement the best location to adamantly insist that you’re straight? Definitely, totally straight in spite of all that footage of you taking 30+ inches of dick? Straight straight straight? Don’t get us wrong, we’re not disputing the accuracy of the statement, and Gay4Pay is fine by us, we’re just wondering why his retirement announcement features this insistence so prominently. If Rocco is retiring from the adult film industry, how much does it really matter whether or not we know his sexuality for certain? Is he over-protesting? Or does he possibly have another project in the works? Don’t mind us, we’re just excitedly speculating.
In spite of the above cynicism, we will miss Rocco. He’s sexy as hell and for a straight guy, he knows how to take a dick like a champ. It’s also worth noting that Rocco is pretty much the only G4P actor that seemed to satisfy you QCers, which is no easy feat.
