Sporno: Greg Rutherford
There’s only one thing better than a naked man and that’s a naked gentleman, such as Olympic Gold Medalist Greg Rutherford, posing naked again, this time for UK Cosmopolitan magazine, in support of cancer awareness. Greg states:
Being told I’m sexy is something I find funny – as a ginger guy, you get a fair bit of stick growing up. It’s flattering, though. I’m in a lucky position where I get to train every day for a living – but I still have my body hang-ups. I didn’t take my top off for years in training because I thought other athletes were in better shape.
Doing this shoot for Cancer Research UK was important to me: a friend got testicular cancer and had chemo. He’s recovered now. Checking yourself can be the difference between life and death.
We applaud Greg’s charitable spirit and his honest humility, but lament that his hangups about being a redhead kept his shirt on for so many years, denying us all the pleasure of seeing things such as this, as featured in his previous nude spread for cancer awareness in Attitude magazine earlier this year.
Greg came to the world’s attention as part of the GB’s record breaking 2012 Olympic Team, who won a massive haul of gold at their home Olympics, each becoming beloved local stars in the process. Here was Greg in action:
Lounging around later in nothing but Union Jack undies for the benefit of a cancer-charity’s self-drawing class, he was justifiably proud of his fabulous new jewellery:
