With Taiwanese-American actor Barney Cheng (鄭伯昱) directing and Veteran Taiwanese actress Grace Guei (歸亞蕾) playing the role of the mother to a gay couple seeking a surrogate child, Baby Steps (滿月酒) is a cross-cultural drama from “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” producer Hsu Li-kong. The film tackles gay rights and parental rights for a very conservative society and in a way it’s a successor to Ang Lee’s “The Wedding Banquet (喜宴)”.
