QC Daddy Issues: Rise Of The Dadbod – Will This New Trend End Body Shaming For Good?

QC Daddy Issues: Rise Of The Dadbod - Will This New Trend End Body Shaming For Good?

Just in time for summer a new trend, aided by a humorous take from the media and a laid back attitude from its supporters, has put the debate about body shaming among males front and center. It’s worth to recognize that women have faced the scrutiny and social pressure about their bodies way longer than men and there’s more than a thing or two we can learn from them. No matter how good you look on the outside to others acceptance of who you are will always be a dialectical struggle. So it’s kind of refreshing to see these men embracing their “dadbods” and like many have noticed, Chris Pratt (previous the transformation he underwent for his movie roles, mind you) could have been the poster boy of this movement.

In times of crossfit addicts, paleo diets, gym supplements and the myriad of conflicting messages in the media about health and the pursuit of beauty, gay men seem to be the segment that is most vulnerable to end up obsessing about body image and the worst part, shaming those who, for different reasons, don’t fit the mold. As long as a health is in check we support all kinds of shapes and forms among men but we wonder if QC readers find the “dadbod” type sexy enough to be featured here. We ask you, do you think that this new trend could end body shaming for good? Tell us in the comments!
