A recent, and very interesting, HuffingtonPost article titled “Why Are Whites Always the Bottom in Interracial Porn?” kicked the discussion here over at the QC headquarters. On the surface it’s easy to identify the recurrent pattern of the common stereotype being played, the hung macho African-American top doing all the heavy lifting in a gay porn scene. We can see why some may see it as another form of racism, but if it’s an interracial porn scene is it, you know, racist per se after all? We do detected that versatility between these couples/pairings is in fact more rare to find, that’s a niche we’d love to see covered more often by the studios. And we wonder, are these examples the exceptions that prove the rule? Does diversity sell in gay porn? We don’t have all the answers and we’re not that naive believing that there’s no problem to be addressed to either. But a funny thing happened, when we searched our archives the ratio of white bottom/black top and black bottom/white top scenes though still significant it shows that both ends are not that afar from each other as you could expect so we selected a few very hot examples where black men bottomed to illustrate this QC OpenForum post and to challenge the apparent misconception.
