Noah’s Arc Premieres on Logo

Noah's Arc premieres on Logo
I’ll be the first to admit that television overall doesn’t appeal to me like it used to. I guess I am too much of a geek, as I am more intrigued by podcasting and video blogging these days (I like that it’s uncensored). With that said, I have this secret hope that one of the new gay TV channels – such as Logo – will provide something fresh. That could be why I made a point to sit down and watch the premiere of Noah’s Arc.
The series is about four gay men in Los Angeles – Noah, Alex, Ricky and Chance – and how they navigate their complex professional and romantic relationships. On the surface, that’s all pretty standard fare. What I found refreshing was that there were there no white gay men seen on the first episode (as compared to the all white Queer as Folk). And even better, these guys came off feeling like real friends… in addition to being a fun group of somewhat nelly (to completely queeny) beautiful men! I found the first storyline cute. Not particularly earth-shattering, but something that felt new – as Noah fell for a straight guy named Wade who is sending out gay signals and eventually agrees to threesome with Noah and a woman.
Best of all the show was surprisingly sexy. The guys are gorgeous and not afraid to rip off their shirts or strip down. Even better, on top of the sex was some truly witty, damn funny lines.
My take on the premiere: I’ll be back to watch more. The show’s story amused me (at least as much as I expect from TV these days) and was not afraid to go some places that I didn’t think Logo was capable of. And with a little hope, maybe Kanye West’s label will come around and eventually realize it is okay to authorize his music to be played on the show.
Noah’s Arc airs on Logo on Wednesday nights at 10pm.
