Madge Lays Into the Boy Scouts, Among Other Things

Earlier this week at the annual GLAAD Awards, Madonna gave a speech in which she honored Anderson Cooper and proved that she’s still as capable of controversy as ever. In the speech, which she presented while wearing a Cub Scout uniform, Madonna took on a variety of topics, including the Boy Scouts, bullying, the Israeli Palestinian conflict, and PussyRiot. Plus, let’s be honest, she gave herself quite a few pats on the back in the process.
She finally got around to mentioning Anderson Cooper — to whom she was presenting the Vito Russo Award. She began by saying, “I am here to give an award to someone that I admire, to someone who is brave, to someone who has made a difference in the world by promoting equality and giving a voice to the LGBT community.” And, of course, no speech about Anderson Cooper would be complete without mentioning his eyes and his ass. It’s nice to see that Madonna hasn’t totally lost her touch, and she’s always been a fierce advocate of LGBT rights, but she might have been a little less self-congratulating. We know she’s a legend and everything, but maybe she could have quoted her own songs less often? Nonethess, we’re endlessly grateful for her dedication to LGBT rights. Oh, also her music. We’re definitely grateful for her music.

She ended by calling Anderson Cooper a “freedom fighter” and “badass motherfucker.” Immediately after came a kiss that will forever be on our “We’re Not Sure Which Person We’re More Jealous Of, Even If It Looks Awkward as Hell” list. We’d kiss both of them in a heartbeat, though they’d obviously be very, very different kisses.
