Beards, Bush and Body Hair– Not just for Bears and Daddies Anymore

There were a lot of trends I loved this past year, but the best by far was the uptick in new models with beards, bush and body hair. I’m not just talking about the stable of studs and daddies who dominate the over 30’s market at sites like MenAtPlay, HotHouse, Lucas Entertainment or Raging Stallion. I’m excited for the young bucks who brought manly back in 2018 by keeping it groomed up top and letting it grow down below.

For over a decade, Bryan Ockert has been a one-man crusade, leading the charge against abuses perpetrated by the electric razor with his site Chaosmen. Where other studios are all too eager to start filming right away with a new model, Brian takes the time to “groom” his models for their debut. He encourages the guys to grow out their body hair and then patiently waits before scheduling their first shoot.

Chaosmen has become gay porn’s go-to destination for young, hairy and tatted alterna-dudes (with the occasional muscle jock making an appearance on the site). Over the years, Bryan has brought us many furry favorites like Vander, (Solomon) Aspen and Griffin. And then there was Shepherd, who for me represents man at his au-naturale best. Though Shepherd appeared in only three videos, he left his musky mark as one of the hottest guys ever to appear on the site.

Among this year’s crop of hirsute hotties at Chaosmen was the handsome, horse-hung Jake Hart. A newcomer to the business, Jake seemed like he had the potential to become the be next big thing in gay porn, openly sharing that he has had some oral and rimming experience with guys. It was all the more disappointing when he only returned for a service video. He then jumped ship to Next Door Studios for another solo debut, and has not appeared in anything else since.

Blaze Burton was another one of my favorite models from Chaosmen this year. He debuted with a full-on hipster beard which nicely framed his handsome face and locked attention onto his long-lashed green eyes. He had just the right amount of chest of hair and a lick-able treasure trail that led to a well-kept bush of beautiful black curls. Blaze also made appearances at Reality Dudes, Bromo, Men.com, but in all those scenes his pubes and body hair were unfortunately thinned out or done in by manscaping gone amok. Kudos to Chaosmen for having bested all the other studios by capturing this newbie at his most handsome and hairy best.

Chaosmen continued on a winning streak with the debut of Lucas Leon. Lucas had made the rounds earlier in the year at Men.com and Next Door Male as the latest muscle power bottom. He also debuted as Kai at Corbin Fisher. Lucas is the very definition of hirsute, but in all his appearances for other studios, he was either shaved bare or his hairy appeal was all but trimmed beyond recognition. Chaosmen was the only studio to feature Lucas in all his furry glory, and he never looked better than he did in his solo at Chaosmen.

Elsewhere, one of my favorite new models this year is burly bodybuilder Leo Lombar from William Higgins. Just the light dusting of hair on that massive chest and the dark, luscious crotch curls were enough to seal the deal for me. To my great delight, the bearded beauty returned in subsequent scenes as the muscle-bound, cock-sucking, submissive, power-bottom of my dreams. (William Seed, Who?)

The squeaky clean models over at Corbin Fisher never met a razor they didn’t like and are notorious for butchering their pubes. The site finally broke its ho-hum streak this year with handsome hottie Marco. I loved the natural chest hair and thick bush in his solo video and I’m holding out high hopes for this Southern charmer to return in some man-on-man action. Until then, for more of Marco at his hairy best, head on over to The Guy Site where he made another solo debut as Kain Rage, this time complete with facial hair in addition to body hair and bush.

Just when you thought Tomas Salek could not get any hotter, he does just that in 2018, appearing as Sam Cuthan at Maskurbate. Sporting a three-day scruff on his already manly mug, Sam treated fans-of-fur to a light layer of hairy goodness atop his famous sculpted torso. Kudos to Maskurbate for showing us that you can improve on perfection.

Tom Lawson is probably the hottest British import to debut stateside since the Man of Steel himself, Henry Cavill. Kudos to Englishlads for not only scoring a huge win with Tom’s solo, but for successfully bringing him back for some tame man-on-man mutual touching and wanking. Dare I wish for more in 2019 from this dreamy dandy?

Though technically not a new model, muscle man Max Summerfield deserves honorable mention for his return to Gay Hoopla this year sporting both beard and bush in a hot flip scene with James Manziel.

I’m not sure how, when or why the practice of manscaping became so widespread and abused in porn. I’m just hoping we’ll continue to see more young guys with body hair, and that studios other than Chaosmen will encourage their models to ditch the razor in 2019. Hair is hot, and if ever there existed the perfect trifecta of beard, bush and body hair on a man, it would have to be on Brazilian Bad Boy Diego Sans.

His Royal Hairy Hotness somehow managed to step “sexy” up another notch in 2018 by appearing with the longest mane and thickest fur on his lean muscular body that we have ever seen. As one of Men.com’s top three most popular models, Diego Sans makes the strongest argument that beards, bush and body hair are not just for bears and daddies anymore.
