Maxed Out

QueerClick maxed out!
Hi guys!
First up, a HUGE apology (we’re on our knees kowtowing to seek your understanding) for being Missing In Action for the past 36 hours!
We haven’t gone sipping sangria by the beach. On the contrary, the last 36 hours have been nothing but an excruciatingly exasperating affair with the webhost.
QueerClick has recently become quite a traffic magnet, and whilst we’re dancing around in the house, in celebration, to Kylie’s “I Should Be So Lucky”, we realised we’re quickly approaching the webhost’s already very generous traffic quota, only halfway through the month! YIKES!
So we took the initiative to get in touch with the webhost and started discussing about getting extra bandwidth in fear that the site might be down. The guys er…how should I put it?…let’s just say they were a bit slow in their responses (cue: Kylie’s “Slow”), and that’s with me holding the bitch in from breaking out!!
We didn’t hear from them so we went to bed with our Gloomy Bears and the next morning, we woke up to a very chummy note which had replaced QueerClick which read:

Account Suspended. Bandwidth Exceeded. Best Wishes, Servage.net

No prior warning (we were the ones who contacted them in advance), no grace period (even though we’ve already sent them our distress signal) whatsoever. They just suspended the site! And isn’t “Best Wishes” a tad inappropriate? It’s like saying to the family of the deceased “Good Luck!”
What ensued were countless support tickets being issued, each taking a long time to be replied at their end. All we wanted was for the site to be up and running as soon as possible. But we’d get a reply which would ask us for the amount of bandwidth we’d like to buy, then one which would give us the rates (which is exhorbitant by the way seeing that they only have one standard plan and we have no choice but to buy extra bandwidth by the unit!) and another that would ask for our “permission” to proceed. And after that a reply for our permission for them to charge us payment. And after that (good grief!) a reply for us to click on a link to make online payment! And after payment was made, they made us wait for hours to get the site up. 24/7 helpdesk support? I don’t think so. We waited our asses on a block of ice for some action to be taken but they probably closed shop and went to sleep! What irked us even more was the fact that they’d sign off each reply with a smiley! Hello? We don’t need no smileys! We need the site to be up like our pieces of morning wood!
(Cue: Kylie’s “Breathe”)
Huff….Puff…Huff…
Okay, had to get that off our chests. We’re suffering from Bronchitis now. *Coughs*
So, that’s the story. We’ve managed to get the site up again for the rest of the month. Meanwhile, we are desperately looking for a good webhost. One which will host adult content and give generous amounts of traffic (unmetered traffic is too good a thing to be true and only works if the site is small frankly) or at least not charge exhorbitant rates by the gigabyte! We’re not too concerned about webspace as we are not a multimedia heavy site. Mostly images (altho we keep them HUGE and CLEAR for you lovelies!). What we’re concerned with is getting enough bandwidth to tide us through each month.
We’re not going to ask for donations to keep the site running. Not at least for now. But as we’re kinda victims of our own success, what we need now is a good webhost. If you’ve got a good one to recommend, please drop us a note!
Having said all the above, we’d like to thank all of you for making QueerClick what it is today.
So we should see this as a very good problem! =)
Once again, apologies for the down-time. It’s freakin’ unprofessional. Now we need to go grab some comfort food.
(Cue: Kylie’s “Chocolate”)
