Homosexuality is considered to be a disease. [It’s] easy to pick up [someone] for sex. We have Internet, but it’s all very quiet, hidden, and confidential. Gays can get hurt in Poland. We actually hate gays in Poland. We as a country, not me.”
With the conversation getting a bit heavy so early on, we switched gears. We asked “Are you seeing anyone now or are you single?” He responded, “Oh no, I’m single.” How delightful! “I’m good at being single,” he said. “Being in a relationship is difficult. I know what’s good for me and I’m really hard to live with. I guess my problem is… that I’m not much of a social person. I like solitude. I like to be alone and read or write, have my own time and space, and it’s hard for others to understand. I used to write some poetry but it was long time ago. I got bored.” These days he’s trying to write something longer, though not so much a book as a collection of short pieces about love and Poland, “And how hard it is when heart says yes but the mind says no.”
When he sees hot guys on QC, Gunboat thinks, “It’s not about being perfect, but trying to be better. I remember that all of QC is a fantasy and a game, not serious, just fun, full-out fucking.
