Chinpoko Poll: Should Porn Studios Publish Their Model’s HIV Statuses?

You gentlemen surprised me last week when I asked what scents you like on a man. Unsurprisingly most preferred the smell of cologne (25%) followed by soap (18%), sweat (17%), and then no smell at all (14%)… boring. But luckily about 10% of you like the smell of armpits and another 10% like the smell of musk on a man—now that’s what I’m talking about! I love getting a guy’s natural scent all over me like a horny animal! RAWR!
This week’s question may surprise you, namely because it’s based on a current news event threatening to turn the porn world upside down!

Have you heard about the Porn Wikileaks website that apparently got a hold of thousands of porn stars birth names and HIV statuses? The website is apparently vindictive and homophobic according to Gawker:

Gays ruining the porn industry is a reoccurring theme with Porn Wikileaks. The site constantly rails against crossover stars who work in both gay and straight porn—claiming they are the biggest HIV risks–and its forums are full of homophobic slurs and ranting.

Gay porn star James Jamesson was forced to post his negative HIV test result online to counter rumors spread by Porn Wikileaks that he had the disease. Jamesson said he was worried someone might believe he was knowingly spreading HIV.

“That’s dangerous if someone has the right mindset,” he told us. “I can’t predict what people are going to do.”

Now homophobia is awful and I’m not so big on a website publishing stolen private health information from a sex health clinic (as Porn Wikileaks has allegedly done here) but I’m more interested in whether or not you think studios should go ahead and put the HIV statuses of their performers anyway.
On one hand, it could help emphasize the importance of safe sex, possibly prevent an HIV outbreak, and help give everyone a more realistic picture of the presence of HIV in the gay porn community, But on the other hand it could unintentionally out performers, violate their personal privacy, and get HIV+ ones blackballed from working at other studios.
So what do you think: good idea or bad idea? Vote below and tell me your thoughts in the QComments!
