QCrimes: Mike Dozer Faces Federal Charges, Boyfriend Commits Suicide Amid Rape Allegations

When we last checked in with Christopher Steele (the real name of bareback porn star Mike Dozer), he had pled “not guilty” to the statutory rape of a 14-year-old boy and was mistakenly reported to have been released on bail — in fact, Steele was denied bail and placed in a Philadelphia federal detention center.
Steele — who was arrested in December — already faced nine felony charges, four misdemeanor charges and a reckless endangerment charge for allegedly exposing the minor to HIV (Steele is HIV+). But Steele now finds himself slapped with additional federal charges for possessing child pornography (possibly pictures of the 14-year-old who he met through the gay hook-up app Jack’D) and violating the Mann Act by allegedly transporting the kid over state lines for sex — Dozer resided in Delaware, the kid lived in Pennsylvania. Steele’s federal trial will begin on June 2 and his state trial on May 7.
But there’s more twists to this tale…

In a heartbreaking turn, Steele’s long-time boyfriend Paul Gavin Britton (pictured left) — who was charged along with four others in this particular case — committed suicide in February rather than face the prolonged judicial process to clear his name.
The Sword has more on how Steele’s doing for now:

Dozer, as we learned earlier, was arrested in December. He (or possibly his attorney) tweeted last week that he was excited to be able to see his mom in what was his first visitation and contact with his family in four months. Also, via press release, Dozer’s attorney Kevin Mark Wray says, “My client denies the charges brought against him and looks forward to the opportunity to face these charges in court, be it the Court of Common Pleas in Norristown or Federal Court in Philadelphia. My client appreciates the support of his many friends and fans.”

Several blogs also noted that on April 13, Dozer apparently posted a nude picture of himself on Twitter, an un-wise move that he has since deleted. He also solicited defense funds from his fans, a wise choice considering that he will now have two trials instead of one.
A commenter from The Sword made an eyebrow raising observation on how Steele’s case might not have even gotten any notice if we still lived in the 1990s:

“times have sure changed. not that long ago, in the early days of the internet (circa 1999-2001) when chatrooms were popular and yahoo groups were filled with porn, pedo shit happened all the time and people looked the other way. i can still remember reading many posts in internet sex groups about teens (13-17) wanting to hook up with older guys. unlike today, with the slew of fake profiles and catfishers, these people actually existed and you could get someone to your house or a public restroom within the hour. it was fairly common to get fucked by someone twice or triple your age and nobody flinched the way they do today.”

It’s a disquieting thought that we found particularly provocative. It’s entirely probable that many others have done what Steele now stands accused of, and that modern technology has simply made the detection and prosecution of such crimes much easier and more commonplace than they would have been just a few decades ago. But we digress…

Earlier on in this saga, porn star Billy Santoro — a hairy big-dicked vers-bottom who most recently slammed his meat into Shawn Wolfe — made said, “I love Mike [Dozer] and I know him VERY well as a Philadelphia native. [The rape charge] simply isn’t true.” After reading about this comment in various blogs, Santoro took to his personal blog to comment on Steele’s situation. Here’s his most recent thoughts:

I just wanna comment a little bit on Mike Dozer and his situation. I’ve been reported in a lot of blogs that I support what’s going on or whatever… I commented when I first heard about the Mike Dozer situation, the allegations against him, that I can’t believe it’s true. I still don’t necessarily believe it’s true. But at the same time I don’t support any kind of pedophilia or child molestation or statutory rape or any of that. It’s just I know Mike on a personal level and I think he was definitely entrapped, misled on some level for this to happen.

And it’s unfortunate because in the history of gay people and our struggle for equality, we’ve been compared to pedophiles. And the worst thing that can happen from this case is that it turns out to be true and it gets national publicity and basically it says they’re right, they can compare us to pedophiles. We should all be supporting Mike Dozer and fighting for him and hoping and praying it’s not true because this is the worse thing that could happen for the gay community and the porn industry as well. And I just want you to think about that.
But I feel like, you know, you should shut up. Dozer shouldn’t be making any comments. His layer shouldn’t be making any comments to blogs. Just shut up and let the due process happen. That’s my take on it and I’m sure this will show up in some blog somewhere — I don’t give a fuck.

Santoro has obviously overstated the impact Steele’s case will have on the gay community. Most blogs aren’t even covering it and many will likely ignore a guilty verdict (if one comes) to reduce any negative publicity for the larger movement. But he was right about us republishing his comments on a blog — good prediction, Billy!
We’ll keep you posted as this develops…
