Cold Case

Cold Case is a cop melodrama about detectives who investigate old cases. In this episode, Forever Blue they revisit a 1968 murder involving two police partners&mdash Coop, a idealistic (and possibly crooked) brawler, and Jimmy , a hard-nosed family man. This groundbreaking episode premiered December 3rd, 2007.
Jimmy and Coop’s tragic story has all the dramatic cliches: heavy-handed oldies, crooked cops with tortured souls, an alcohol-fueled fight/love scene, self-loathing closet cases, locker room homophobia, and unrequited love. Heck, even the hot kiss between the lead actors is ripped straight off Brokeback Mountain.
However, the episode does have a uniquely artistic touch and offers an unexpectedly interesting portrayal of gay men on American television. What do you think? Is it surprising or just schlocky?
